“West On Fergus cruises to fifth career win for Halse”
Fast beginner West On Fergus capitalised on box one tonight, mustering five lengths clear of rivals in the run to the first turn before winning by three lengths in 22.91. The 405m journey is ideal for a greyhound like West On Fergus and he has now won 4 of 7 over the premier short-course distance. He is raced by Gary Weston, Craig Weston, Linda Britton and is trained by Chris Halse out of Nambeelup. In the final seconds leading up to jump time the Corey White trained Uno Carla was well supported into favourite but after losing the jump was always going to run second to West On Fergus. 50/1 outsider Outlaw Genius finished third for Jen Thompson. The victory provided Halse with his 74th Mandurah winner of the calendar year and his 186th of the year at WA tracks.
