CANNINGTON PUBLIC TRIALS

Tuesday Evening (booked trials only):      (NO TRIALS DEC 26 PUBLIC HOLIDAY)  

Safe Chase Lure will be in operation 

  • Trials commence 5.00pm
  • On the arm / Catching Pen options available
  • Separate stir up laps will not be conducted
  • FINISH ON -RACE LURE available (Muzzle on, max-2 dogs, No additional tie on.)
  • FINISH ON – BROWN CANVAS (1 dog can be muzzle off, if 2 dogs one must be muzzled, compliant tie on allowed)
  • WALK ONS – Only from 300m point. Maximum distance 30m (1 dog can be muzzle off, if 2 dogs one must be muzzled, compliant tie on allowed)

Trials need to be pre-booked and paid for by 4pm Tuesday via Greyhounds WA Administration Office on 6350 4600  No cash payment accepted at trials.

Bookings open 9.00am Wednesday and close 4.00pm Tuesday  

Thursday Morning (booked trials only):

NORTHAM PUBLIC TRIALS

PUBLIC TRIALS FOR 2023 HAVE NOW FINISHED

Saturday Morning (booked trials only): 

Safe Chase Lure will be in operation 

  • Trials commence 8.30am (Must finish by 11.30am)
  • On the arm only  (No pen)
  • Separate stir up laps will not be conducted
  • No vehicles allowed on Harness Track.

Trials need to be pre-booked and paid for by 12 noon Friday via Greyhounds WA Administration Office on 6350 4600   No cash payment accepted at trials.

Bookings open 9.00am Tuesday and 12 noon Friday

 SOUTHERN RIVER STRAIGHT TRACK

Greyhounds WA is a signatory to the Lease of the Southern River Straight Track. The facility located on the grounds of the German Shepherd Dog Association of WA is available exclusively  to greyhound owners and trainers at the following operating times:

Monday to Friday 6am to 11am. Weekends 6am to 9am.

Note: Shared use outside these times is allowable during daylight hours.

The German Shepherd Dog Association have kindly allowed greyhounds to share the use of the straight track outside these exclusive operating times as long as it during daylight hours.  Please be considerate of any German Shepherds and their owners if you are using the straight track outside the exclusive greyhound times above.

Use of the facility is FREE, however Greyhounds WA ask that all users are mindful of their obligations to keep the track and surrounds clean and tidy. Any failure to do so, abuse of any kind, or use of the facility outside daylight hours will see the offenders denied access.

Access to the grounds is controlled by a Keysafe. Industry participants should contact the Racing Manager Dennis O’Brien at Greyhounds WA for access details.

Greyhounds WA is very pleased to share this valuable training facility and ask the industry’s co-operation to ensure its on-going viability and success.

The drag lure is provided for use by participants. You need to connect a 12 volt battery to operate the drag lure.

ST DAVID’S ESTATE – NAMBEELUP STRAIGHT TRACK

Address: Greyhound Retreat, Nambeelup

Available for use:

Monday to Saturday: 7am – 10am & 4pm – 7pm

Sundays: 4pm – 7pm only   (Not available Sunday mornings)

Use outside these hours is not permitted.

Use of the facility is FREE, however Greyhounds WA ask that all users are mindful of their obligations to keep the track and surrounds clean and tidy. Please ensure any vehicles operating in the area are used in a responsible manner and that you are considerate of neighbouring properties.

Any failure to do so, abuse of any kind, or use of the facility outside designated hours will see the offenders denied access.

QUALIFYING TRIAL TIMES

The following qualifying conditions will apply to greyhounds that have not won or been awarded first place in any flat race, heat or final of any official race behind an artificial lure.
(a) Cannington
City Class Maiden Grade

(i) To be eligible to be nominated for a Maiden event, a greyhound must run the time specified in Section (d) or better in a Qualifying Trial.
(ii) Greyhounds qualified to run at Cannington are allocated a City Sprint Maiden Grade and are also qualified to compete in all Maidens at all tracks.

(b) Mandurah
Provincial Class Maiden Grade

(i) To be eligible to be nominated for a Maiden event, a greyhound must run the time specified in Section (d) or better in a Qualifying Trial.
Greyhounds qualified in City Class are also qualified to compete in Provincial Class.
A greyhound qualifying over 405m or 490m will be allocated a Provincial Sprint Maiden Grade enabling it to compete over all distances in Provincial Sprint Maiden events.

(ii) Greyhounds qualified to run at Mandurah that are allocated a Provincial Sprint Maiden Grade and are also qualified to compete in Country Class Maidens at all tracks over all distances.

(c) Northam
Country Class Maiden Grade

(i) To be eligible to be nominated for a Maiden event, a greyhound must run the time specified in Section (d) or better in a Qualifying Trial.
Greyhounds qualified in City Class, or Provincial Class are also qualified to compete in Country Class.

(ii) Greyhounds qualified to run at Northam are allocated a Country Sprint Maiden Grade and are also qualified to compete in Country Class Maidens at all tracks over all distances.

(d) Qualifying Times

QUALIFICATION FOR MAIDEN GREYHOUNDS  (as at 14 August 2018)

Cannington 520m – 32.00secs or better

Cannington 380m – 23.00secs or better

Mandurah 490m – 29.00secs or better

Mandurah 405m – 24.00secs or better

Mandurah 302m- 18.20secs or better

Northam 509m – 31.30secs or better

 Requalification

Maiden greyhounds can requalify at any time and this is recommended for those with no recent placings in their form to elevate them in the Order of Choice.
