20240713 – Mandurah Saturday – The ‘Westcha$e’ Final

BLACK NESS (Zack Monelli-Rekall Kelsos) led from box 7 and put the race to rest early as she recorded her Maiden victory. The Christine Robartson trained bitch defeated Riser by 3 1/4 lengths in a PB 27.58.

LOVE STORY (Zack Monelli-Rekall Kelsos) continued the winning run of the litter and gave trainer Christine Robartson an early winning double. The black bitch won her third race in 7 starts when she defeated her litter sister Racing Barbie by a half length in 27.57.

MISS ENVY (Aston Dee Bee-Miss America) scored a narrow victory in the Listed Greyhounds WA The Westchase final. The red brindle bitch recorded her fourth straight victory when she held out Bezzecchi by a head in 27.24.

CHEF’S KISS (Zack Monelli-Rekall Kelsos) gave Christine Robartson her third winner for the night from the first 4 races when she held off the late finishing burst of Gouda Monelli. The black bitch won by a head in 27.36 as she recorded her 3rd win from 12 starts.

20240706 – Mandurah Saturday – ‘The Westcha$e’ Heats

“Emerald Guard wins Heat One of the Westchase for Morgan Turner”

Mandurah track specialist Emerald Guard capitalised on drawing box one in tonight’s first heat of the Westchase Series. The son of Tommy Shelby stuck to the fence and took the lead at the top of the straight before zooming away to win by three lengths. The son of Tommy Shelby posted a new PB of 27.03 and has now won an amazing 9 of 16 over the 488m journey. The Christine Robartson trained pair of Kuro and Racing Barbie finished second and third respectively. Emerald Guard is a full brother to earlier winner Hectare Hunter who was a very strong winner over 488m also for Morgan Turner. Other promising youngsters from the litter are Toad, Power Up Yoshi, Super Peach, Wild Winnie and Too Slippery. The other three Westchase heat winners were Miss Envy (27.24), Sunset Comanche (27.41) and Bezzecchi (27.34). The box draw for next Saturdays Final looks like this :

20230708 – Cannington Saturday – The Westcha$e

PENNY MAGIC (Fernando Bale-Joybell Magic) was able to run down the leader Speedy Valma after settling just off the pace to win her Maiden by 1 1/2 lengths in 30.20. The Michael Johnston trained bitch had been placed at her past two starts when well supported.

VICTORY ROAD (Premium Share-Corporate Storm) recorded his first Novice win after positioning well on the first corner and then running home to win by 2 1/4 lengths over Katchoo in 29.94. The Christine Robartson trained youngster doesn’t turn two years of age until October.

WEST ON BOONIE (Tommy Shelby-West On Violet) scored a brilliant win in the final of The Westchase defeating litter sister and brother Flying Freda and King Tommy. The Chris Halse dog won by 2 lengths in 29.96 after missing the trouble on the first corner. He has now won 3 times from 6 career starts.

20220709 – Cannington Saturday – The Westcha$e

CRYPTO MONELLI (Fernando Bale- Penny Monelli) worked to the lead soon after the start before racing away from Call Me Trinity to win his Maiden on debut by 7 3/4 lengths in 30.25. The win followed a winning double, with two Maidens the previous Wednesday night, for trainer Morgan Turner.

SASSY BLADE (Bekim Bale- Bluey’s Fate) rewarded the patience of trainer Barry McPherson by recording his second win at start 59. The black bitch won her Maiden 55 starts earlier, however that didn’t stop her from running down the leader Clifton Cruz to win by a half length in 30.31.

MANZU (Vanderworp- Legit Boss) led throughout from box 4 as he held out the young star challenger Throttle by 3 3/4 lengths in a slick 29.71 on a wet track. The Margaret Hepple trained dog has now won 15 times from 24 career starts and over $91,000 in stakes in a career that was struck down by injury.

JIMMY’S DECISION (My Redeemer- Moonshine Mandy) ran home strongly to defeat Granite Song and Momentum by 2 1/2 lengths in 30.20. The Paul Stuart trained dog defeated Manzu at his previous start which certainly framed his form.

20220702 – Cannington Saturday – The Westcha$e Heats

GLORIOUS GUNN (Fernando Bale- Nanza Gunn) led from box 4 and scored a 4 length win over Burning Passion in 29.98. The Greg Horne trained bitch had been placed second at 3 of her past 4 starts. The black bitch recorded her 6th win from 22 starts.

RAPIDO SCUD (Zambora Brockie- Miss Bondi) raced to the front down the back straight before holding off Abby Keeping to remain undefeated in 3 starts. The Rob Westworth trained dog won by a head in 22.02.

CLIFTON CRUZ (My Redeemer- Grace Under Fire) showed tremendous heart after working hard to record back to back wins. The Vince Reid trained youngster won his Maiden the week before on debut before again clocking 30.28 as he won by 2 1/2 lengths over Bionic Polly.

MASTER BLASTER (West On Augie- West On Maisie) had to work hard from his outside draw before racing past the favourite Hurricane Taylor going off the back straight. The Chris Halse trained chaser had made the final of the Gr 2 WA Derby in May, however had never won at Cannington in 9 prior starts. The black dog won by a length in 30.03 in the opening heat of the Westchase series.

20210710 – Cannington Saturday – The WestCha$e

SERONG (Fernando Bale- Starlight Shine) recorded his biggest win at just his 10th career start when he led throughout from box 2 and took out the Listed The Westchase final. The Paul Stuart trained youngster drove through underneath of Got The Sugar on the first corner and held on to win by a length in a new race record time of 29.59. The win saw Stuart win both feature over the weekend as he also trained Rostered Off to win the Mandurah Middle Distance final the night before.

WESTDALE HAILEE (Tureaud- Bluey’s Fate) caused an upset win in the opening race defeating the well supported favourite Einsteinium by a head in 21.78. The Joe Dailly trained bitch had been racing consistently without in winning finishing in the placings at 3 of her last 4 starts prior to her recording her 9th career win.

WEST ON BRAE (Kinloch Brae- High Recall) led throughout to defeat kennel mate West On Grit by 3 1/2 lengths in 29.85. The talented youngster has now won 11 of 19 career starts and returned to the winners list after a luckless run behind Manzu in his heat of the West Chase the week before.

JIMMY’S DECISION (My Redeemer- Moonshine Mandy) bounced back into the winners list as he ran down the leader Canya Moonshine and went on to win by 4 1/4 lengths in 30.01. The Jai Jormanainen- Davis trained dog had been knocking on the door being placed at 2 of his past 3 starts.

20200711 – Cannington Saturday – The Westcha$e Final

SIR MONTY (Fernando Bale- Star Recall) was able to run down the leader Mermaid Monelli and give trainer Chris Halse his 4th winner in the past 5 years of the Greyhounds WA The Westchase final. The white and black dog won by a length in 30.05 with kennel mate Veyron Star back in third place. Sir Monty joined Times Square, West On Hawkeye and Premium Share as winners of the listed feature form the Halse kennel. He has now won 9 times from 18 starts.

CHEVY’S ENTRY was able to recover from a poor start to rail through and challenge for the lead going off the back straight. The Shayne Williams trained dog went on to defeat Huey Blue by 3 1/2 lengths in. 21.64. The blue brindle dog has now won 4 times from 5 starts from the red box.

WESTDALE HAILEE (Tureaud- Bluey’s Fate) ended a losing sequence of 19 starts when she led throughout from box 1. The Joe Dailly trained bitch recorded just her second career win in 23 starts defeating Top Prospect by 2 lengths in 30.14.

SPEED MISSILE (Bella Infrared- West On Babe) railed through to hold the lead going into the first corner before racing clear down the back straight. The Enzo Crudeli trained bitch went on to defeat Oysters by 4 lengths in 30.04.

20190706 – Cannington Saturday – The Westcha$e Heats

HASTIE GUESS (Barcia Bale- Te Amo) scored an impressive win in the opening heat of the Westchase. The Linda Smithson trained dog returned from a short let up with 2 impressive wins including his 6 3/4 length victory over Super Blade in a PB 29.76. The black dog has now won 4 times from 13 career starts.

PREMIUM SHARE (Kinloch Brae- Shared Equity) blew his rivals away with an effortless 7 3/4 length win over Don’t Guess in the second heat of the Westchase. The Chris Halse trained dog clocked 29.59 from box 6 and will start favourite in the final next week. The black dog has won 8 times from 18 starts.

WEST ON AUGIE (Fernando Bale- Te Amo) recorded an all the way win from his inside draw holding out kennel mate Chips And Trains by 3/4 length in 30.10. The reigning WA Greyhound of the year was dropping back in distance from the 600 metres after winning the final of the Paradise Street Trophy the week before.

20180714 – Cannington Saturday

“Destroyer wins staying Free For All for Chris Halse”

Ex-Victorian based stayer Destroyer put in a solid performance this evening when he took out the 715m Free For All. Odds-on favourite Scott Keeping began only fairly from box two and was headed off at the first turn by Destroyer from box six. The son of Spring Gun soared clear with a lap to go and established a five length lead over kennel-mate Ramifications who was the closest pursuer. Outsider Chezzy Allen raced in third position ahead of Scott Keeping who began to build some momentum. Turning for home it was clear that Destroyer was going to lead all the way and while Scott Keeping rallied late he was beaten four lengths. Ramifications was another two lengths away third in advance of Chezzy Allen (fourth) and Moment To Jive (fifth). Destroyer was having his second start in WA after finding early trouble and running sixth over 520m. The Neil Young owned chaser has now started 46 times for 9 wins, 23 minor placings and over $64,000 in earnings.

Race 2 Number 5 LORENZO BLUE : Steamed home strongly again at long odds after flying home at his previous start.

SCOTT KEEPING (Bekim Bale- Kim Keeping) made a mid race move to the lead and quickly put lengths on his rivals as they entered the back straight. The new purchase for trainer James Jeffries and his partner Gemma Jovanovic has now won at his past two starts over the 715 metres. The pair combined earlier in the night to win with Dave’s Entity who recorded a 4 length win over the 380 metres in 21.92.  Pictured : Scott Keeping

EGYPTIAN PIRATE (Where’s Pedro- Little Egyptian) ran home well late to score a neck win over Tallulah in a busy finish over the 600 metres. The former NSW chaser is now in the care of trainer Ricky Valenti and stopped the clock at 35.38. The white and black dog was a winner at Richmond prior to coming West.

CROPDUSTER (KC And All- Sialia) led throughout in the opening heat of the Westchase series scoring by 5 lengths in a PB 29.91. The Paul Stuart trained bitch has won 5 of her past 6 runs including the Gr 2 WA Oaks in May. Owner Peter Cameron also part owns Vanderworp who took out the Gr 2 Bendigo Cup the previous night.
