20230520 – Cannington Saturday – Oaks Heats & Derby Final

GET OUT (Aussie Infrared-Screen Shot) was able to record his Maiden win at his 15th attempt with a 4 1/4 length victory over Hippy Trail in 30.13. The Kody Charles trained dog had been knocking on the door with 8 minor placings.

FLYING FREDA (Tommy Shelby-West On Violet) crossed from her wide draw and then raced clear of Tweak Freak to win by 3 3/4 lengths in 29.76. The Chris Halse trained youngster was having just her seventh career outing as she won the opening heat of the Gr 2 WA Oaks.

BELL MAC BLAZER (Mepunga Blazer- Tina’s Magic) worked from her wide draw before drawing away from Disco Daisy and scoring by 2 3/4 lengths in 29.94 in the second heat of the Gr 2 WA Oaks. The Shayne Williams trained bitch had only won once at Cannington over the 520 metres before tonight’s outstanding victory.

WEST ON BLOSSOM (Vanderworp-Times Square) led throughout for a dominant win in the third heat of the Gr2 WA Oaks. The Chris Halse trained bitch has been in outstanding form winning 4 of her last 5 starts and will be one of the main chances in next week final.

20210529 – Cannington Saturday – W.A. Oaks

OUR SEABROOK (Fernando Bale- Shared Equity) led throughout and held out Got The Sugar and Sunset Piper in a driving finish in the Gr 2 final of the Greyhounds WA Oaks. The Chris Halse trained bitch is raced by Linda Britton and backs up from winning the Mandurah Oaks  and became only the third greyhound in history to complete the double with Deutronium winning both in 2012 and in 1997 Billy’s Echo. The white and black bitch has now won 10 times from 26 starts and close to $100,000 in stakes. The winning margin was a head by a neck competed after a very heavy down pour in a winning time of 30.78.

LIKE YOU (My Redeemer- One For Tiger) was a certainty beaten when looking like the winner on Wednesday before being checked, however bounced back with a dominant all the way win from box 4. The Cosi Dagostino trained youngster won by 6 1/4 lengths over Coffee Cutie in 30.10.

MAMBO MONELLI (Se Tali Sundance- Camelia Monelli) led throughout from box 1 and scored a 6 1/2 length win over Tiger Town who he had also beaten a week earlier. The David Hobby trained dog stopped the clock at 29.72 on a rain sodden track.

JUST SEND IT (Mepunga Blazer- Milldean Focus) recorded his 4th consecutive win with a 3 1/2 length victory over Westdale Hailee in a PB 21.82. The Corey White trained dog has now won 12 of 43 career starts and has also been placed on another 21 occasions.
