20210918 – Cannington Saturday – W.A. Bred Championship Heats

WISE SUFFOLK (My Redeemer- Cosmic Wise) showed speed on debut and held out Kishka in the run to the line, scoring by a neck in 22.08. The Michael Hine trained youngster doesn’t turn two years of age until December. The black and white dog has a black face similar to the Suffolk sheep breed he was named after.

BRAZIL MONELLI (Fabregas- Sahannah Monelli) showed speed from his middle draw and once finding the front he proved too good for his rivals winning by a length over Gypsy Xenon in 30.02. The David Hobby trained dog turns two years of age in November and has already amassed 7 wins from 12 careers starts.

ESCAPOLOGY (MY Redeemer- Early Shirley) returned from injury with an all the win over the 380 metres taking her record to 5 wins from 8 starts over the trip. The Colleen Pierson trained bitch jumped well and then held off the late challenge from Fabriola Yes, scoring by a head in 22.12. The red brindle bitch welcomed back her regular handler Karen Bradley who had been on a short vacation with her Mum in Bunbury last week.

20201219 – Cannington Saturday – Christmas Gift

GRACE ALI ((My Bro Fabio- Born Ali) returned to the winners list with a gutsy win over SA raider Line Seeker in the final of the Greyhounds WA Christmas Gift. The Chris Halse trained bitch has amassed over $230,000 in stake earnings and enjoyed the inside draw in the final where she has finished in the first 3 at 11 of 13 starts. The SA stayer Line  Seeker led early before Grace Ali railed around the home corner before scoring by 3/4 length in 42.19.

COUNTING KUNA (Fernando Bale- Leelicious) recorded his third win in a row after crossing from box 7 and leading throughout winning by 5 lengths over First Rule in 21.80. The Michael Johnston trained sprinter has now recorded 17 wins at Cannington this year and 23 in his career of 37 starts.

ALL ZIPPED UP (Kinloch Brae- Zipping Spring) continued the winning run for trainer Sean Kavanagh after he led throughout and defeated Stargazer by 6 lengths in 29.88. Kavanagh also won the feature Kanyana Cup with Shirakaba the night before at Mandurah.

WICKED RHYTHM (Fernando Bale- Velucci) led from box 7 at her first try over the 715 metres and demolished her rivals winning by 3 1/4 lengths over West On Magada in 42.21. The Enzo Crudeli trained bitch was an impressive winner a few starts prior over the 600 metres and should improve further over the longer distance.

20201012 – Cannington Monday – Vince Caruana WA Bred Country Cup

WISE FROST (Fernando Bale- Cosmic Wise) led throughout to record her maiden victory at her 7th race start. After having been placed twice, the Michael Hine trained bitch kicked up from box 1, holding out Seen The Odds, and scored by 1 1/2 lengths in 16.32. It was a big 24 hours for Hine who won his first premiership as coach of Mount Helena on Sunday.

CHAROS MOSCOW (Taylors Sky- Charos Tenetti) ended a losing sequence of 11 starts and recorded her win over the 380 metres with a half length victory over Hey There Sara in 22.33. The Murray Stewart trained bitch had to work across from her wide draw and ran down the leader in the straight to score.

RIPPED UP MOMENT (Rippin’ Sam- Luba Monelli) recorded another win when she shot to the front and scored by 2 lengths over One Eye Blink in a PB 16.10. The Phil Worthington trained dog won his Maiden 2 runs back before finishing an unlucky third at his next start.

20200926 – Cannington Saturday – W.A. Bred Championship

MERMAID MONELLI (Fernando Bale- Sahannah Monelli) led throughout in the final of the Greyhounds WA, WA Bred Championship. The David Hobby trained bitch defeated Tommy Shelby, who dwelt at the start, by 1 1/2 lengths in 29.87. The blue brindle bitch has now won 23 times from 45 starts and over $138,000 in stakes plus WA bred bonuses.

OWL SKY (Tureaud- Mandy Charm) missed most of the trouble on the first corner before racing clear down the back straight and away for a 1 3/4 length Maiden victory. The Joe Dailly trained bitch had been placed once from 4 previous starts.

SO TOUGH (Fernando Bale- Cosmic Aphrodite) led throughout from box 1 over the 600 metres and recorded a new PB 34.89 in defeating Historic Time and Don’t Guess by 5 lengths. The Shayne Williams trained dog has been chasing consistently with two recent seconds over the 600 metres one behind Flake Monelli.

COUNTING KUNA (Fernando Bale- Leelicious) recorded his fourth win in a row with a 2 length win over Fab’s Excise in 21.79. The Michael Johnston trained dog has now won 8 of 14 starts over the 380 metres for his connections.
