20210428 – Cannington Wednesday

EXPLODED RAVIOLI (My Redeemer- Early Shirley) jumped well and led throughout from box 2. The Colleen Pierson trained dog was placed over the 405 metres in early April before having his first start over the 380 metres. the red brindle dog defeated Wave Maker by 3 lengths in 22.15.

SERONG (Fernando Bale- Starlight Shine) finally delivered on his potential with a 1 1/4 length Maiden win over Impulse Buy in 29.95. The Paul Stuart trained dog had been well supported at his first 3 race starts where he was placed twice before working across from his wide draw and scoring.

SOUL’S GLORY (Cosmic Rumble- Sweet Spud) made quick ground out wide down the back straight after a slow get away before careering away for a 3 length win over Honey Hush in 21.98. The Graham Ellis trained dog won his Maiden two starts prior in 22.13 and looks set for a bright future.

20190424 – Cannington Wednesday – Sprinters Plate

MOTTZA (Fernando Bale- Cavendish Flyer) jumped 2 lengths clear of his rivals once the boxes opened for the final of the Greyhounds WA Sprinters Plate. The former Queensland chaser raced clear of his rivals to win by 3 1/4 lengths from Issue in 21.59. The John Iwanyk combination of he and owner Jeff Schrull look set for another dominant greyhound in their ranks.

GRAN AMOR (Fernando Bale- Te Amo) recorded her first win in WA after she railed underneath the leader Wagtail Cumin along the back straight before racing clear to win by 2 1/4 lengths in a PB 29.99. The Michael Johnston trained bitch had won twice on the East Coast before returning to her birth place where she has finished third in 3 of 5 starts.

WHO’S GOT SUBI (Fabregas- Never Ask) broke her Maiden status with a 3/4 length win over Naughty Gunn in 30.12. The Rob Wentworth trained bitch had been placed 11 times from her previous 14 starts, however had just failed to record her first win. The consistent bitch should gain in confidence now that she has saluted first.

20190417 – Cannington Wednesday – Sprinters Plate Heats

MAGIC MAMBA (Magic Sprite- Dove Bale) scored an all the way Maiden win on debut scoring by 2 lengths over Who’s Got Subi in 30.15. The Cosi Dagostino trained dog had finished third in a recent trial, however once jumping to the front was to good for his rivals.

SPRITE MONELLI (Magic Sprite- Jackie Bale) jumped well and landed in front going past the judge the first time round before racing away for a 7 3/4 length win over Aussie Salute in 29.87. The David Hobby trained dog has now won 3 times from just 5 career starts.

LUCY’S OTIS (Dyna Double One- Lucy Wires) railed well around the home corner before shooting away for a 3 1/4 length win over Pocketful in 30.01. The Kody Charles trained dog is owned by Gemma Jovanovic and James Jeffries who earlier in the day became engaged to get married.

MARYDOLL (Elite State- Flying Sienna) jumped to the lead in the final of the Greyhounds WA Sprinters Plate and was to quick for her rivals, defeating an elite group of sprinters. The Kody Charles trained bitch defeated the favourite and track record holder Frida Monelli by 2 lengths in 21.74.

HOTSHOT MONELLI (Magic Sprite- Dyna Sandy) flew home along the rail to claim Ballistic Blue and his Maiden victory in the process. The black dog has always promised plenty since qualifying, however has taken 23 starts to break his Maiden status. It continued the winning form for trainer David Hobby whose Gr 1 Perth Cup winner Trouper Monelli named the Greyhound Clubs Australia greyhound of the month for April.

YUNDERUP KAYLA (Barcia Bale- Keira’s Charm) recorded her first win at Cannington with a come from behind victory over Marg Monelli, scoring by a half head in 30.34. The Andrew Mclaren trained bitch was narrowly defeated the week before behind Sunset Gucci in a PB 30.28.
