20210206 – Cannington Saturday – Sandi’s Me Mum Memorial

SUNSET TOXIC (Mepunga Blazer- Sunset Jessie) led throughout to score a 4 length win in the final of the Greyhounds WA Sandi’s Me Mum over kennel mate Le Jury Monelli in 30.35. The win was trainer David Hobby’ 5th win in the WA Bred final. The black dog has now won 13 of 24 career starts and over $83,000 in stakes.

GOT THE SWAGGER (Fabregas- Gone To Heaven) broke through for his Maiden victory after having been placed at his past 4 starts. The Corey White trained dog settled close to the leader Record Me going into the back straight before sweeping too the front on the home corner. The black dog won by 2 1/2 lengths over Kilkenny Monelli in 30.80 on a rain effected track.

WEST ON BRAE (Kinloch Brae- High Recall) kept his perfect record in tact with an all the way win over kennel mate Volute scoring by 7 lengths in 30.37. The Chris Halse trained dog pushed through from box 6 and then put his opponents to the sword recording his third career win from as many starts.

ALL ZIPPED UP (Kinloch Brae- Zipping Spring) broke back into the winners list with a length win over Steve Monelli in 30.47 for trainer Sean Kavanagh. The black dog held the rail as the leader Westdale Ophelia wobbled wide on the first corner and then went on to record his 12 career win from 40 starts.

ZACK MONELLI (Barcia Bale- Penny Monelli) is undefeated in 6 starts in 2021 and he was most impressive winning from box 8 in 35.24 on a wet track. The David Hobby trained dog warmed up for the Gr 1 Zoom Top next Saturday night at The Meadows where he has drawn box 1. He won at The Meadows on January 2nd to start this winning run.

20210130 – Cannington Saturday – The Miata

ZACK MONELLI (Barcia Bale- Penny Monelli) recorded a head win over SA chaser Line Seeker in a thrilling finish to the Gr 3 The Miata final. The David Hobby trained star in undefeated in 3 starts now over the 715 metres. The black dog raced past the leader Wicked Rhythm going past the judge the first time and then held off Line Seeker to win by a head in 41.89. Zack Monelli broke a hock last year after finishing second behind Simon Told Helen in the Gr 1 Perth Cup. The win was Hobby’s 5th in the feature staying final.

SUNSET TOXIC (Mepunga Blazer- Sunset Jessie) led throughout in the opening heat of the Sandi’s Me Mum Memorial scoring by 2 1/4 lengths over Sir Monty and Jumbo Jet in a PB 29.57. The David Hobby trained youngster has only just turned two years of age and has now recorded 12 wins and 7 placings from 23 career starts. Hobby has won the race 4 times and also his late wife Suzanne prepared the first ever winner Corn Dolly back in 1999.

FERNANDO STAR (Fernando Bale- Star Recall) worked across from box 6 and bumped with Wise Thunder before he found the lead going into the back straight. The Chris Halse trained dog then raced away to win by 2 3/4 lengths over Wise Thunder who was having his first start in WA from Victoria. The blue dog recorded a winning time of 29.84.

20170401 – Cannington Saturday

WEST ON DOSSY (Outa Credit- West On Wendy) recorded just his second win from 14 tries over the 520 metres. The Chris Halse trained black dog circled the field down the back straight going past kennel mate Pepper Fire and Mendoza Monelli in the process, before scoring by 1 3/4 lengths in a PB 29.93 in the opening heat of the Sandi’s Me Mum Memorial.

SASSY GINGER (Kinloch Brae- Sassy Guess) flew out from box 8 and once finding the rails was able to run some very quick sectionals. The Enzo Crudeli trained dog clocked a 5.38 first split before going off the back in 18.13. The red brindle dog then stopped the clock in a PB time of 29.53 which is less than a length outside of the track record set by Quick Jagger.

WHO’S GOT CLASS (Kinloch Brae- Never Ask) railed well under the leader Starlight Asha going off the back straight before holding on to win by 3/4 length in 29.90. The Chris Halse trained dog will be a leading chance in next weeks final of the Sandi’s Me Mum Memorial and has a PB time of 29.61.

STINKY PETE (Brett Lee- Beau One) was able to find the early lead and then hold off all challenges in recording a neck win over Courageous Nikki and Ochre Keroma. The Glen Price trained black dog has now won 2 of his past 3 starts over the 600 metres and tonight recorded a PB 35.03.
