20210911 – Cannington Saturday – Spring Gift

STARGAZER (Keybow- She’s Majestic) caused an upset win in the greyhounds WA Spring Gift final when he gained a start as the reserve and then claimed the leader Rippin’ Parton near the line to win. The Enzo Crudeli trained dog was placed recently behind Sunset Toxic in the WA Sprint Championship. The black dog won by 3/4 length in 30.01.

MIDNIGHT ASHA (Mepunga Blazer- Starlight Asha) led from box 7 and proved too good for her rivals on debut scoring by 2 lengths over Mustang Max in 30.38. The Adam Smithson trained youngster hadn’t showed a lot in her qualifying trial, however obviously had at home as she was well supported starting second favourite behind her kennel mate Falcon Nine who finished fourth.

BUD MONELLI (Barcia Bale- Corona Monelli) ran home from midfield to claim kennel mate Sunset Whistler near the line scoring by 3/4 length in 30.31. The David Hobby trained dog has now won twice from 8 career starts.

SAMBA MONELLI (Se Tali Sundance- Camelia Monelli) crossed from box 8 and worked past kennel mater Cascade Monelli down the back straight before holding off another kennel mate in Toohey Monelli by 3 lengths in 30.17. The David Hobby trained dog had recorded his only two victories from box 1 prior to his smart win.

20210612 – Cannington Saturday – Winter Cup

WEST ON SOHO (Mepunga Blazer- West On Lola) showed speed from box 6 and was able to cross the field and race clear going down the back straight. The Chris Halse trained youngster was ultra impressive as she raced away for her first win at Headquarters scoring by 6 lengths over Bella Sunset in 30.20.

BAREFOOT TYCOON (Fernando Bale- Velucci) had to overcome a severe check going into the first corner before rallying to defeat his rivals and score his first win over the 600 metres. The Enzo Crudeli trained dog scored by a length over Historic Time in a PB 35.00.

FENANDO STAR (Fernando Bale- Star Recall) held up from box 1 and with Kennel mate Our Seabrook finding trouble, he was able to score by a length over Shades Of Blade in 30.06. The Chris Halse trained dog has now won 19 of 63 starts and over $140,000 in stakes.

MYRTLE MONELLI ((Helton Bale- Petunia Monelli) recorded her first win at Cannington after beginning quickly from box 7. Once she found the back down the back straight, the David Hobby trained bitch proved too good for her rivals defeating Up And About by 3 1/2 lengths in a PB 29.97.

20210529 – Cannington Saturday – W.A. Oaks

OUR SEABROOK (Fernando Bale- Shared Equity) led throughout and held out Got The Sugar and Sunset Piper in a driving finish in the Gr 2 final of the Greyhounds WA Oaks. The Chris Halse trained bitch is raced by Linda Britton and backs up from winning the Mandurah Oaks  and became only the third greyhound in history to complete the double with Deutronium winning both in 2012 and in 1997 Billy’s Echo. The white and black bitch has now won 10 times from 26 starts and close to $100,000 in stakes. The winning margin was a head by a neck competed after a very heavy down pour in a winning time of 30.78.

LIKE YOU (My Redeemer- One For Tiger) was a certainty beaten when looking like the winner on Wednesday before being checked, however bounced back with a dominant all the way win from box 4. The Cosi Dagostino trained youngster won by 6 1/4 lengths over Coffee Cutie in 30.10.

MAMBO MONELLI (Se Tali Sundance- Camelia Monelli) led throughout from box 1 and scored a 6 1/2 length win over Tiger Town who he had also beaten a week earlier. The David Hobby trained dog stopped the clock at 29.72 on a rain sodden track.

JUST SEND IT (Mepunga Blazer- Milldean Focus) recorded his 4th consecutive win with a 3 1/2 length victory over Westdale Hailee in a PB 21.82. The Corey White trained dog has now won 12 of 43 career starts and has also been placed on another 21 occasions.

20210507 – Mandurah Friday

“Our Seabrook wins Mandurah Oaks for Chris Halse”

Chris Halse and Linda Britton have always been a formidable combination in WA greyhound racing and tonight they combined to take out the Mandurah Oaks. Our Seabrook overcame box six to take the lead down the back straight before holding off a spirited challenge from the David Hobby trained Sunset Piper. The daughter of Fernando Bale clocked a flying 27.34 and won by a length, 100/1 rank outsider Teleport Tilly finished third after showing early speed. Our Seabrook is out of great race bitch Shared Equity who won 31 races herself and has produced other quality chasers Western Envoy, Premium Share, Equity Fund and Cocoon.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 3 Number 1 INVERSION : Relished the box and distance to defeat kennelmates over 490m in 27.59.

Race 4 Number 3 NO IDEAS : Improved sharply at box rise to find the lead and win at 33/1.

20210327 – Cannington Saturday – Lew Dorsa Memorial

“We The People notches a hat-trick for Kavanagh”

Long distance chaser We The People overcame a moderate start to take out tonight’s Fuller Fitness Grade 5 over 715m. The former NSW chaser had won her previous two runs over 600m and after navigating her way through traffic hit the lead in the middle stages. The Michael Johnston trained Sweet Mamma Mia charged home late and took ground off We The People to finish second and two lengths behind. Finishing third after setting the pace was West On Mia who was placed for the sixth consecutive start. We The People is prepared by the Clark Kent lookalike Sean Kavanagh and has now started 14 times at Cannington for 6 wins and 5 minor placings.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 2 Number 3 CORAZON DE LEON : Displayed terrific mid race muster and then held on for a great third.

Race 5 Number 2 CHIMERA MONELLI : Ran on strongly to be the runner up in the Lew Dorsa behind kennelmate Stout Monelli.
