20230826 – Cannington Saturday – The Peter Thomas Final

“King Tommy dominates 715m Free For All”

Promising stayer King Tommy made light work of tonight’s Sign Strategy Call Phil FFA over 715m. The son of Tommy Shelby turns two years old this month and has handled the rise to staying racing very well. This evening from box four he zoomed to an early lead before setting up a ten length lead in the middle stages. Whilst runner up Clifton Cruz made up a few lengths King Tommy was never in doubt of winning and held on to score by a comfortable 5.50 length margin. He clocked 41.91 and has now won 3 of 4 over the long journey. Clifton Cruz finished second and another four lengths away third was Sher Zany. King Tommy is raced by Justin Warwick and Chris Halse and the victory gave the duo a double after they took out the opening maiden with King Tommy’s full sister Blue Passion. Later in the evening the Corey White trained Dandalup Blazer took out the Peter Thomas Final, winning by a nose over Beach Ridge.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 1 Number 6 ERASMUS DUKE : Appreciated a clear passage and improved to be the runner up, he looks close to a win.

Race 2 Number 3 VANDER HARLEY : Passed a few talented types in the run home to finish second behind Daddy’s Girl.

20230809 – Cannington Wednesday – W.A. Championships

BLOOD DIAMANTÉ (Mepunga Blazer-Hayley’s Style) crossed from her wide draw and recorded her Maiden victory defeating Jacey Raider by 5 1/4 lengths in 22.15. The Colleen Pierson trained bitch was placed on debut 4 starts earlier however, had enjoy little luck since then.

SKYE MONELLI (Orson Allen-Leisel Monelli) scored an easy 5 3/4 length Maiden victory defeating Hill Figure after beginning better than her rivals. The Paul Kaltsis trained bitch recently joined his care and has been placed twice from her three previous starts for him.

GOOD AS HELL (Superior Panama- Sub Rosa) caused an upset win in the second of the Maidens I’ve the 520 metres. The Jamie Marsh trained bitch jumped well and then missed the trouble going into the first corner before holding off Cosy Corner by 1 1/2 lengths in 30.60.

CAMINO (Superior Panama-Starlight Yoyo) led throughout from box 3 and defeated Kisses For Kaos by 1 1/4 lengths on debut. The Paul Stuart trained youngster stopped the clock at 30.41.

20230527 – Cannington Saturday – W.A. Oaks Final

MISS VALENTINE (Hecton Bale-West On Delly) showed speed from her inside draw and then held off the challengers to win by 1 1/2 lengths over Pop’s Gift in 22.10. The Michael Rylands trained bitch has now won twice from her 6 starts.

WEST ON ODIE (Vanderworp- Times Square) motored around the outside of his rivals from his wide draw before impressively defeating Sunnyside Boy by 1 1/4 lengths in a slick 21.68. The Chris Halse trained dog was having his first try over the 380 metres after 3 recent consecutive wins over the 520 metres including a win in a heat of the Gr 2 WA Derby.

CORPORAL KUNA (My Redeemer-Moonshine Mandy) upset her more fancied rivals including kennel mate and favourite Flashing Kuna by leading throughout over the 600 metres. The Michael Johnston trained dog had only won once from his previous 21 starts over the 600 metres.

ELITE MACHINE (Aussie Infrared-Pat’s Lass) led from box 2 and registered his 19th career win from 34 starts. The Jamie Marsh trained dog won by 5 lengths over Hinto in 29.63. Marsh and owner Daniel Williams are now contemplating a trip to Brisbane for their rich carnival.

20221210 – Cannington Saturday – Anniversary Cup

DANNY HEFFERNAN (Barcia Bale-Paganoni) showed speed from the inside draw and led throughout on debut defeating Anasazi Monelli by 5 1/2 lengths in 30.01. The Lewis Clay trained youngster was well supported and his big frame did the rest in an impressive first up effort.

BALLISTIC ANT (Fernando Bale-Bionic Black Ant) enjoyed some luck on the first corner when the two favourites Pancake and Lentil Monelli got tangled up and checked back towards the rear of the field. The Enzo Crudeli trained bitch recorded her second win from 8 starts scoring by a half length over Sunset Louie in a PB 30.17.

PILBARA (Fernando Bale -Shanakee) raced to lead from box 5 and led throughout in the final of the Stayers Series. The Rob Westworth trained stayer has been a model of consistency finishing in the top 3 at 65% of his career. He defeated Superman Keeping by 10 lengths in 41.99 and has now won 21 times in his career and over $200,000 in stakes.

AMPLIFIED (Fernando Bale-Elevated) crossed the field with ease from box 7 before leading throughout in the Greyhounds WA Anniversary Cup final. The Krystal Shinners trained bitch defeated Hinto by 4 1/2 lengths in a new race record of 29.49.

20221112 – Cannington Saturday – Young Stars Classic

CANYA EXCLUSIVE (Fernando Bale-Wynburn Mia) was able to win his Maiden on debut after he chased home ahead of Jackaneedup to win by a half length in 30.06. The Steve Withers trained youngster had been impressive in recent trials before his winning debut.

WEST ON COMET (West On Augie-West On Hazel) ran home well to claim the leaders and score an impressive 3 1/4 length win over Ether Monelli in 30.07. The Chris Halse trained bitch had been knocking on the door since her Maiden win a few months earlier.

HURRICANE TAYLOR (Fernando Bale-Cropduster) led throughout over the 600 metres and scored his second impressive win over the middle distance in as many weeks. The Eric Campana trained dog held out Adzuki Monelli to win by 2 1/4 lengths in a slick 34.68.

GRANITE SONG (Aston Dee Bee-Juniper Twedo) circled the field on the first corner before racing clear to win by 5 1/4 lengths over West On Finn in 30.06. The John Carmody trained dog has now recorded 16 wins from his 51 career starts and over $115,000 in stake earnings.

20221022 – Cannington Saturday – All Stars Sprint

CRYPTO MONELLI (Fernando Bale- Penny Monelli) crossed from his wide draw and then railed underneath the leader coming around the home corner before winning by 2 1/2 lengths over Clifton Cruz in 30.18. The Morgan Turner trained dog has now won 3 times from 14 career starts.

WYNBURN BURNER (Worm Burner- Mrs Bubbles) crossed from box 8 over the 600 metres before and skipped away going along the back straight from his rivals. The Jackie Wilson trained chaser then held off the fast finishing run of Spin The Bottle to win by a 1/2 head in 35.09.

REDHEAD RIDER (My Redeemer- Gloria’s Bills) bounced back into the winners list with a dominant 4 3/4 length win over Iconic Indie after Keeping her out early. The Cosi Dagostino trained dog has now won 3 times from 9 starts over the 380 metres and has also been placed another 4 times.

VICE GRIP (Aston Dee Bee- Bells Are Ringin) became the first greyhound in WA racing history to win two Gr 2 All Stars when he ran down the leader Electrified in the final. The Adam Smithson trained star took his stake earnings past $510,000 with his length win in a new Race Record time of 29.69.

20220709 – Cannington Saturday – The Westcha$e

CRYPTO MONELLI (Fernando Bale- Penny Monelli) worked to the lead soon after the start before racing away from Call Me Trinity to win his Maiden on debut by 7 3/4 lengths in 30.25. The win followed a winning double, with two Maidens the previous Wednesday night, for trainer Morgan Turner.

SASSY BLADE (Bekim Bale- Bluey’s Fate) rewarded the patience of trainer Barry McPherson by recording his second win at start 59. The black bitch won her Maiden 55 starts earlier, however that didn’t stop her from running down the leader Clifton Cruz to win by a half length in 30.31.

MANZU (Vanderworp- Legit Boss) led throughout from box 4 as he held out the young star challenger Throttle by 3 3/4 lengths in a slick 29.71 on a wet track. The Margaret Hepple trained dog has now won 15 times from 24 career starts and over $91,000 in stakes in a career that was struck down by injury.

JIMMY’S DECISION (My Redeemer- Moonshine Mandy) ran home strongly to defeat Granite Song and Momentum by 2 1/2 lengths in 30.20. The Paul Stuart trained dog defeated Manzu at his previous start which certainly framed his form.

20220622 – Cannington Wednesday – Winter Maiden Classic

LADY LASS (Moreira- Sunia Lass) was able to lead and win on debut holding out Commander Mack by a neck in 22.67. The Stephen Richards trained bitch was beaten by Commander Mack in a recent qualifying trial before turning the tables.

SUNSET DEWEY (Hecton Bale- Marg Monelli) also was good enough to hold out the challenge from Forge Monelli to win by a neck in 30.50. The Eric Campana trained youngster had been placed at 4 of 7 prior starts before recording his Maiden victory.

RAPIDO TINTO (My Redeemer- Te Amo) was able to rail underneath the leader going down the back straight before racing clear to win his Maiden on debut. The Rob Westworth trained dog hadn’t been seen since qualifying in trials back in February. He defeated Muka Mayhem by 3 1/4 lengths in 30.20.

ELECTRIFIED (Aussie Infrared- Miss America) over came an early bump to recover and lead going off the back straight. The Krystal Shinners trained dog then raced clear to win the Greyhounds WA Winter maiden Classic final by 3 lengths over Exile Dreamer in 30.25.

20220611 – Cannington Saturday – Winter Cup

HINTO (Zipping Garth- ReKall Kelsos) showed speed from box 8 and desperately wanted the fence going into the first corner which forced him to bump with Flashing Kuna. The WA Derby winner was able to hold off the challengers once in front and scored by a half length in 30.07. The Christine Robartson trained dog has now won 4 times from 10 starts.

TSAR BELL (Out Of Range- Ringading Sister) ran down the leader and favourite Hecton’s Boy to record his first win in WA since coming across from Tasmania. The Adam Smithson trained chaser had won 7 times in Tasmania prior to coming West and he scored at his second WA start.

REFUND TUX (Mepunga Blazer- Times Square) overcame a slow start before working around the leading pair coming towards the home corner. The Chris Halse trained youngster then drew away from Our Dream Girl to win by 2 3/4 lengths in 30.23.
