20171014 – Cannington Saturday

BLACK FUSILEER (Kelso Fusileer- High Recall) scored a tough win from the inside draw for trainer Chris Halse and the First of Many syndicate. The black dog had raced without luck in two starts since an impressive victory at Mandurah over the 490 metres. He defeated the recent Gr 3 SA Derby winner Black Bombshell after being headed entering the back straight and went on to win by 2 1/4 lengths in a PB 29.95. Part owner Matt Fuller, from Fuller Fitness Subiaco, couldn’t be on course as he was preparing for his 24hr fitness challenge for Telethon next weekend where he will again raise funds for the sick children of WA.

PETUNIA MONELLI (Bella Infrared- Lara Monelli) set a a new track record for the 600 metres as she demolished her rivals in the final of the Greyhounds WA Distance Potential. The David Hobby trained bitch led from box 4 and then went off the back straight in 22.95 before stopping the clock at 34.49. The time lowered that of Hobby’s star chaser Teddy Monelli who set a time of 34.56 back in March.

PEPPERFIED (Spiral Nikita- West On Bluebird) recorded her third win in a row when she over came the outside draw to win by 3 lengths in a PB 29.90. The Chris Halse trained bitch was handled by owner Luke Townsend who works tirelessly for the Halse kennels and well and truely deserves the win.

ASHOM MONELLI (Mogambo- Jackie Bale) was able to hold up from his inside draw and then draw away for an easy 5 length win over Ramifications in a PB 34.66. The win gave trainer David Hobby an early winning treble with wins early in the night with Denali Monelli and Mendoza Monelli. He then also won the feature with Petunia Monelli giving the Nambeelup trainer 4 of the first 7 winners of the night.
