20200508 – Mandurah Friday – Mandurah Oaks

“Star Book conquers three Monellis to win Mandurah Oaks”

Brilliant young bitch Star Book overcame box five to take out tonight’s $30,000 Mandurah Oaks against a star-studded lineup.

Prepared by Canning Vale based trainer Jamie Marsh, the daughter of Barcia Bale began cleanly and drifted to the centre of the track whilst Mermaid Monelli flew out of box one to lead.

Entering the back straight Mermaid Monelli held a two length lead with litter sister Pixie Monelli in hot pursuit on the inside of Star Book.

The third of the David Hobby runners Thrift Monelli settled in fourth position ahead of West On Bloom.

Leaving the back straight Star Book made her move and challenged strongly for the front before surging away in the home straight to score by three lengths.

Pixie Monelli narrowly grabbed second over Thrift Monelli and a fading fourth was Mermaid Monelli.

Star Book is out of great producing dam Saving Bundles who has mothered the likes of Quick Jagger, Bundles Galore, Garbrandt, Rockhold and Skipper’s Ticket.

She has now racked up nine victories from sixteen career starts and tonight’s time of 27.10 was just over a length outside of Zack Monelli’s track record.

Later in the evening highly promising stayer Casus Belli scored over the 647m staying trip, giving Jamie Marsh a training double.
