20210609 – Cannington Wednesday – Winter Maiden Classic

PENNY HEIST (Mepunga Blazer- Envy Heist) led from box 7 and was never headed as she broke through for her Maiden victory defeating Quick Tin by 1 3/4 lengths in 22.18. The Graham Ellis trained bitch had been placed at two of her first 3 starts before breaking through.

VOID ALL TICKETS (Token Prince- Marley Girl) broke a losing sequence of 35 starts when he recorded his 4th career win at start number 50. The black dog recently joined the care of Steve Van De Klashorst and had been placed at 2 of her past 3 starts.

BENIDORM (Kc And All- Mandjoogoordap) led throughout from box 4 at her second career start and defeated Candy Bush Track by 3 1/2 lengths in 30.36. The Sean Kavanagh trained bitch had been trialling well before her debut where she finished 4th behind Fire Cloud in a heat of the Winter Maiden Classic.

20190403 – Cannington Wednesday – Autumn Maiden Classic Heats

EQUITY FUND (Kinloch Brae- Shared Equity) overcame a moderate start and early trouble to lead the field home in the opening heat of the Autumn Maiden Classic. The Chris Halse trained dog was on debut after finishing second to Mikey’s Rant in a qualifying trial the week before. The result was reversed tonight as he scored by 4 1/2 lengths from an unlucky Mikey’s Rant in 30.44.

HOSTILE GUESS (Hostile- Viridian) also won his Maiden Classic heat on debut after finding the top going off the back straight and going on to defeat Scootaloo by 1 1/4 lengths in 30.62. The Linda Smithson trained dog had won his qualifying trial by 4 lengths two weeks prior in 30.26.

LUCY’S OTIS (Dyna Double One- Lucy Wires) railed brilliantly to run down the leader Hastie Guess to win by a neck in 29.97. The well bred dog was having his first start for Kody Charles and returning from injury. The red brindle dog last raced in WA when injured in early November last year after coming across from Victoria with a Maiden win to his name.


The following greyhounds have qualified for the Autumn Maiden Classic Final to be run on Wednesday 10 April.

20170712 – Cannington Wednesday

FRIDA MONELLI (Fernando Monelli- Bingle Monelli) started off the stud career of the former champion chaser Fernando Bale in WA with a last stride win in the final of the Greyhounds WA Winter Maiden Classic. The black bitch finished second in her heat on debut the previous week behind Canya Connor after leading. Tonight she couldn’t cross Exonerated for the lead, however claimed him near the line to win by a head in 30.64.

WEST ON CHARLIE (Kelsos Fusileer- High Recall) led throughout from box 3 at his second race start to record a half length win over the race favourite Another Gear in 30.20. The Chris Halse trained youngster had little luck mon debut when finishing fourth behind Canta Connor on debut in a heat of the Winter Maiden Classic.

BUSHMAN’S LUCK (Superman- My Asunción) caused an upset victory as he worked past the leaders going off the back straight. The Peter Glenny trained black dog has won 3 times from 5 starts since coming across from Victoria where he had won 3 times in his first 24 career starts. The black dog recorded a 30.54 victory on a rain effected track.
