20240511 – Cannington Saturday – W.A. Derby Heats

RACING BARBIE (Zack Monelli-Rekall Kelsos) was able to work across to the lead soon after the start and then held off the race favourite Starlight Ariel to win by 3/4 length in a PB 29.92. The Christine Robartson trained bitch was having just her 6th career start and doesn’t turn two years of age until September.

BAGNAIA (Starlight Panama-Starlight Yoyo) crossed from box 5 and led throughout scoring by 5 1/2 lengths over Shy Emoji in a new PB 29.61. The Paul Stuart trained dog had been placed at his previous two starts before he recorded his 4th career victory.

SUNSET HORNET (Sunset Spitfire-Pixie Monelli) led from box 5 and was too speedy for her rivals scoring by 4 1/4 lengths over Disco Daisy in 29.71. The David Hobby bitch was having just her second start over the 520 metres after having won 6 times previously over the 380 metres at the track.

BERGELMIR (Fernando Bale-Scootaloo) made his way through to next weeks Gr2 Brittons Formal Wear WA Derby with a brilliant win over My Anarchy Boy in the opening heat. The Jamie Marsh trained dog railed underneath the leaders who came together on the first corner before racing clear of his rivals and won by 3 3/4 lengths in 29.78.

20240223 – Mandurah Friday – The Great Western Heats

“Our Benson zooms into final of The Great Western”

The Great Western is a series contested over 400m and is restricted to WA bred chasers who are in the Provincial 4/5 category. The first running of the race was back in 2006 when Just Got Paid won for John Iwanyk. Notable winners since have been Man Dime (2012), Sissoko (2014), Fire Blaze (2017), Mermaid Monelli (2020) and Ultimate Command (2023). Three heats were staged tonight and there was an upset result in the first with Alden Monelli winning at 20/1. Heat Two was taken out in dominant fashion by $1.80 favourite Our Benson who found the lead at the first turn before roaring away to score by four lengths in 22.23. Our Benson is prepared by Kody Charles and has now won 9 of his 15 career starts. The third and final heat was taken out by Sunset Hornet who was able to overpower West On Boomer and win by a length. 20231202 – Cannington Saturday – Anniversary Cup Heats

LIL BIT WARPED (Vanderworp-Sara Monelli) ran down the leader Imperial Sash and scored a 2 1/2 length win over All About Stone in 30.02. The David Hobby trained youngster has now won 3 times from 13 starts and doesn’t turn two years of age until January.

CRYPTO MONELLI (Fernando Bale- Penny Monelli) was able to land in front of the favourite Couch Surfer early and then held him off to win by 3/4 length in 35.08. The Morgan Turner trained dog recently returned to the track and has won 3 of 4 runs since returning.

WEST ON NUGGET ( Tommy Shelby-West On Violet) recovered from a slow start before racing away from his rivals to win by 4 1/2 lengths in 42.56. The Chris Halse trained dog has now won twice from 3 tries since stepping up to the 715 metres.

KING TOMMY (Tommy Shelby-West On Violet) jumped well and quickly took control of the opening heat of the Anniversary Cup winning by 6 1/4 lengths in 29.76. The Chris Halse trained dog reversed the result of the Mandurah Cup when he defeated Hinto in 29.76.

20231014 – Cannington Saturday – All Stars Sprint Heats

EUGENIUS (Shima Shine-Blame The Flame) finally broke through for his second Novice win, scoring by 3/4 of a length over Monkey Emoji in 29.98. The Jay Jacobson trained dog had won twice and had been placed 15 times from 21 career starts before his victory.

INSIDE SCOOP (Premium Share-Corporate Storm) crossed the favourite Sand Patch driving into the first corner and 5en led throughout to win by 3 lengths in a PB 29.61. The Christine Robartson trained youngster has now won 7 of 20 career starts.

MIXED DOZEN (Fernando Bale-Pepper Shiraz) led and held on to win by a half length over the fast finishing Disco Trixie in 42.28. The Paul Stuart trained finds the 715 metres to his limit however, was far enough in front down the back straight to hold on and win.

RUNAWAY TO MARS (Aussie Infrared-Miss America) crossed from box 6 and led throughout in the opening heat of the Gr 2 All Stars Sprint. The Krystal Shinners trained dog has been racing in outstanding form and stopped the clock in a new PB 29.61 defeating Sneaky Peaky by a half length.

20230916 – Cannington Saturday – W.A. Bred Championship Heats

VANDER COLIN (Vanderworp-West On Lily) covered plenty of extra ground from his wide draw and was still good enough to defeat Hopeland by 2 1/2 lengths in a PB 22.01. The Enzo Crudeli trained dog has now won twice from 10 career starts.

DISCO TRIXIE (Fernando Bale-Bionic Black Ant) railed around the home corner and nailed the leader and odds on favourite Miss Ronnie Mac right in the line to win by a half head in 34.98. The win gave trainer Enzo Crudeli an early winning double.

MIXED DOZEN (Fernando Bale-Pepper Shiraz) recorded his first win in WA after leading over the 600 metres. The Paul Stuart trained dog held off Dusty Deluxe to win by a nose in 34.90. The victory comes at his third WA start and after having won 4 times from 10 starts in Victoria.

DANDALUP BLAZER (Mepunga Blazer-Dandalup Girl) couldn’t cross to the lead when held out by West On Odie, however claimed him in the last stride to win by a neck in 29.95 in the opening heat of the WA Bred Championship. The Corey White trained has been racing in the best form of his career.

20230819 – Cannington Saturday – The Peter Thomas Heats

EVERY STEP (Tommy Shelby-Miss Vonshae) led from box 4 and broke her Maiden status with a 1 1/4 length win over Prettiest Star in 30.55. The Damien Crudeli trained bitch had finished unplaced in her first 4 races starts.

ACING KUNA (Dyna Villa-Gran Amor) led from box 5 and never gave her rivals a chance with a 4 3/4 length win over Disco Trixie in a PB 34.85. The Michael Johnston trained bitch has now won twice over the 600 metres and has been placed on another 5 occasions from her 7 tries.

KING TOMMY (Tommy Shelby-West On Violet) showed his potential star status with a brilliant all the way victory over the 715 metres. The Chris Halse trained dog was having just his 12 career start and has only just turned 2 years of age. The black dog defeated kennel mate Couch Surfer by 4 1/2 lengths in 41.84.

FIRE CLOUD (My Redeemer-Early Shirley) bounced back into the winners list taking out the first heat of the Peter Thomas. The Colleen Pierson trained dog was headed early before finding the top and holding off the late charge of Hinto winning by a head in 30.17.
