20200801 – Cannington Saturday – Grade 5 Series Final

TAKERS TO VEGAS (Aussie Infrared- Ash Flash) had to work from her outside draw, however once crossing to the lead the white and black bitch was able to drive away for a 4 length win over Catch Jackson in a PB 21.79. The James Jeffries trained bitch has now won 3 of 5 starts over the 380 metres.

CURFEW (Fernando Bale- Uno Arjo) led throughout from box 2 and defeated Then What by half a length in 30.23. The Nat Crook trained dog has now recorded 2 wins and 4 placings from 8 career starts.

PIXIE MONELLI (led throughout from box 3 and defeated kennel mate Chomp Monelli by 3 lengths in 29.90. The David Hobby trained bitch had been racing without a lot of luck and once on the arm was never threatened.

20200725 – Cannington Saturday

“Flake Monelli breaks 275m record on her way to another 715m win”

Super stayer Flake Monelli zoomed out of box seven tonight when she led throughout to win by seven lengths in a flying 41.55.

The daughter of Fernando Bale clocked a sizzling 15.68 for the first 275m which is a length inside of the current track record held by Counting Kuna (15.73).

Flake Monelli has now broken that time on four occasions.

The in-form Cindy’s Oliver soldiered on well for second place and finished five lengths ahead of the third placed So Tough.

Flake Monelli has now won four in a row and a total of 22 races from 42 career starts.

Her career prize money now sits at $136,000.


Race 2 Number 7 JUMP IN LINE : Won at $37 from a wide draw and looked suited to the 380m journey.

Race 5 Number 6 TRY CATCH TANYA : Showed early zip before striking bother in the middle stages but then rattled home at the end. Potential stayer.

“Freddo Monelli leads all the way for David Hobby”

Noted fast beginner Freddo Monelli caused a mini upset tonight when she led throughout to defeat $1.50 favourite Who’s Got Cash. The son of Barcia Bale exploded out of box two to set the pace and ended up scoring by just over a length in a fast 29.84. Who’s Got Cash had his chance to reel him in and although closing on the line never really looked like overtaking. The consistent Ollie Machine finished powerfully for third position and continues to earn on a regular basis. Freddo Monelli is owned and trained out of Nambeelup by David Hobby and has now won 8 of 15 career starts all of which have been over 520m at Cannington.
Race 2 Number 6 KISS ME LINDA : Bounced out brilliantly and led all the way in a quality 30.00.
Race 3 Number 5 FANTASTIC GHOST : Battled on gamely to run a gutsy second over 715m and overtake Gran Amor in the shadows of the post.

20171216 – Cannington Saturday

TROUPER MONELLI (Fernando Bale- Bingle Monelli) chased home well to defeat a talented line up in the Book For Christmas Grade 4/5 event. The David Hobby trained brindle dog kept to the fence as he charged to the front on the home corner before defeating West On Babe by 5 lengths in 30.26. The win also took Hobby’s total of winners to 134 for the year and continued the tight tussle between himself and rivals Chris Halse and Enzo Crudeli for the trainers premiership title.

SASSY GINGER (Kinloch Brae- Sassy Guess) continued his excellent record from box 1 with an all the win over Gold Reserve and Equanimity scoring by 3/4 length in 29.84. The Enzo Crudeli trained dog has won 7 times from 11 starts from the red box. The win was his first since September and followed recent seconds in a heat and final of the Anniversary Cup.

NEVER IN KANSAS (Barcia Bale- Not In Kansas) hassled the favourite Starlight Asha off from the rails going along the back straight before drawing away to win by 3 lengths from kennel mate Kirk Bale in 30.14. The Enzo Crudeli trained black bitch had not won since September, however showed a return to form the previous week when third behind West On Babe.

OCHRE KEROMA (Spring Gun- Maya Keroma) was able to bounce back into the winners circle with a 4 length win over Czarny in 30.16. The James Jeffries trained bitch is raced in partnership with Fremantle Dockers player Nathan Wilson whom Jeffries played junior football with. The red brindle bitch has now won 4 times over the 520 metres from 11 starts.
