20240410 – Cannington Wednesday – Autumn Maiden Classic

NOT THE HAIR ( Mepunga Blazer-Hayley’s Style) jumped straight to the front and led throughout over the 275 metres defeating Dawn Of Time by 2 1/4 lengths in 16.14. The Colleen Pierson trained bitch has now won twice from her past 4 starts.

WEST ON HALO (West On Augie-Kiss Me Linda) recorded her Maiden victory with a 3 3/4 length all the win from box 7. The Kellie Buckwell trained bitch had been placed second at her last two starts before breaking through.

FIDEL PRONTO (Fernando Bale-Speed Missile) was headed early by Chef’s Kiss before kicking back in the home straight to win his Maiden by a neck in 30.26. The Enzo Crudeli trained youngster was a beaten odds on favourite on debut the week before.

20221112 – Cannington Saturday – Young Stars Classic

CANYA EXCLUSIVE (Fernando Bale-Wynburn Mia) was able to win his Maiden on debut after he chased home ahead of Jackaneedup to win by a half length in 30.06. The Steve Withers trained youngster had been impressive in recent trials before his winning debut.

WEST ON COMET (West On Augie-West On Hazel) ran home well to claim the leaders and score an impressive 3 1/4 length win over Ether Monelli in 30.07. The Chris Halse trained bitch had been knocking on the door since her Maiden win a few months earlier.

HURRICANE TAYLOR (Fernando Bale-Cropduster) led throughout over the 600 metres and scored his second impressive win over the middle distance in as many weeks. The Eric Campana trained dog held out Adzuki Monelli to win by 2 1/4 lengths in a slick 34.68.

GRANITE SONG (Aston Dee Bee-Juniper Twedo) circled the field on the first corner before racing clear to win by 5 1/4 lengths over West On Finn in 30.06. The John Carmody trained dog has now recorded 16 wins from his 51 career starts and over $115,000 in stake earnings.

20221105 – Cannington Saturday – Young Stars Classic Heats

LIMA MONELLI (Fernando Bale-Corona Monelli) quickly made ground on the leaders entering the back straight before racing away to record her Maiden victory by 7 lengths over Chloe Ant In 30.07. The David Hobby trained youngster was placed second at her previous start.

JACKSON KEEPING (Mepunga Blazer-Shelley Keeping) showed early speed at her third race start and was able to hold out the favourite Canya Accelerate and then win his Maiden by 4 3/4 lengths in 21.94. The Brad Cook trained dog recently came across from NSW.

ROCKY BALBOA (Aston Dee Bee-She’s Historic) was very impressive in recording his second career victory defeating Kid Kimetto by 4 lengths in 22.05. The Enzo Crudeli trained had been unlucky in recent starts and with clear running was far too good for his rivals.

20211106 – Cannington Saturday – Young Stars & Canning Show Cup

MYRTLE MONELLI (Hecton Bale- Petunia Monelli) led throughout from box 1 over the 600 metres defeating West On Mia by 3/4 length in 35.07. The David Hobby trained bitch recorded her 15th win at her 50th career start.

KILKENNY MONELLI (Barcia Bale- Corona Monelli) was dominant in recording his first win over the 600 metres, scoring by 6 1/2 lengths over Poppy Passion in 35.00. The David Hobby trained dog found all sorts of trouble at his first try over the distance the week before as an odds on favourite.

MARLOU MISS (Lochinvar Marlow- Jazzy Lou) flew out from box 5 and crossed the favourite Escapology before racing away to record a 4 1/2 length win over Sailing Shoes in 21.84. The Justin Wood trained bitch was also having her 50th career start and she has now won 13 times.

UNSEE THIS (My Redeemer- Tina’s Magic) railed underneath of Momentum after being headed soon after the start and then held off the short priced favourite to win the opening heat of the Gr 3 Young Stars Classic by a neck in a PB 29.53. Trainer Shayne Williams will now try and emulate his feat of winning the feature in 2019 with Danica Keeping. The winner and second in the Gr 3 final next week gains a ticket in the Dogs WA Phoenix final on Saturday November 27.

20201114 – Cannington Saturday – Young Stars Classic

SUNSET SPITFIRE (Mepunga Blazer- Sunset Jessie) demolished his rivals in the final of the Greyhounds WA Gr 3 Young Stars Classic leading throughout and defeating litter brother Sunset Toxic by 8 lengths in a Race Record 29.56. The David Hobby star juvenile, who turns two years of age next month, is undefeated in 9 starts including a PB 29.45 on debut in August. The win was Hobby’s second after scoring with Topaz Monelli back in 2005.

STACKS OF KUNA (Fernando Bale- Leelicious) claimed the leader Cascade Monelli right on the line to break his Maiden status after 29 starts. The Michael Johnston trained dog had been placed 14 times prior to his nose victory in a time of 30.82 on a wet track.

ALL ZIPPED UP (Kinloch Brae- Zipping Spring) led throughout from his middle draw and scored a convincing 2 length win over Daisy Devine in 35.43. The Sean Kavanagh trained dog has now won twice and has been placed twice over the 600 metres at his past 4 starts.

NEED MORE KUNA (Fernando Bale- Leelicious) recorded her 6th consecutive win and her first over the 380 metres with an all the way victory scoring by 3 1/2 lengths over Sapphire Rose in 21.97. The Michael Johnston trained bitch had lowered the 16 second time over the 275 metres at her past 4 starts to show her ability.

20201107 – Cannington Saturday – Young Stars Classic Heats

VAN BUREN (Bella Infrared- Benita Bale) exploded over the top of his rivals to score a last stride win in the listed Canning Show Cup for trainer Jamie Marsh. With the race favourite Flake Monelli getting checked on the bend start corner, the big black dog was well back early before showing his strength claiming the leader Chimera Monelli on the line scoring by a neck in 35.18. The win is his 10th from 30 career starts and takes his stake earnings past $60,000.

SUNSET TOXIC (Mepunga Blazer- Sunset Jessie) showed speed from box 6 and raced clear to win the opening heat of the Gr 3 Young Stars Classic by 6 1/2 lengths from the Oaks winner Cobargo in 30.02. The David Hobby youngster has now won at his past 3 starts.

WICKED RHYTHM (Fernando Bale- Velucci) showed speed from box 2 and with trouble behind her along the back straight, the Enzo Crudeli trained youngster raced clear for a 6 3/4 length win in the second heat of the Young Stars Classic. The black bitch has won her past 3 starts also and 5 of 11 in her short career.

SUNSET SPITFIRE (Mepunga Blazer- Sunset Jessie) had to over come some mid race trouble before keeping his unbeaten record in tact in the final heat of the Gr 3 Young Stars Classic. The David Hobby trained youngster pushed through along the rail going down the back straight before defeating Stargazer by a nose in 30.01.

20190911 – Cannington Wednesday – Spring Maiden Classic

STIMULATING (Hullicinate- Wired For Speed) ran down the leader Sunset Kodiak in the shadows of the post to score a neck win in the final of the Greyhounds WA Spring Maiden Classic. The Paul Stuart trained dog was having just his second career start after finishing an unlucky 4th in his heat. Stuart also won the feature with Quartz Bale (2014) and Astrozone (2016).

PEPPA TWEDO (Fernando Bale- Saving Bundles) scored a neck win over King Mongo in the opening race on the card in a time of 16.17. The Lexia Isaac trained bitch was having her first try over the 275 metres after a few minor placings at Mandurah over the shorts. The black bitch is owned and raced by former leading trainer John Carmody and his wife Dianne.

PURE BLING (Barcia Bale- Lollipop Bling) missed the trouble going along the back straight and raced clear to win her Maiden by 2 1/2 lengths over Poetic Justice in 30.16. The Terry Erenshaw trained youngster was having just her second career start after finding trouble on debut.

SURF TORQUE (Surf Mail- Talkalot Tears) ended a losing sequence of 16 when he raced away for a 5 length win over Wagtail Piri and Judo in  a PB 22.15. The Rod Noden trained dog enjoyed the inside box draw and recorded his 9th career win.

20190626 – Cannington Wednesday – Winter Maiden Classic

Flake Monelli (Fernando Bale – Dyna Sandy) braved the wet conditions at Cannington Wednesday night to take out the Winter Maiden Classic by a convincing six lengths in 30.36. Congratulations to owner and trainer David Hobby and best of luck for a promising future with this youngster.

20190410 – Cannington Wednesday – Autumn Maiden Classic

MIKEY’S RANT (Kinloch Brae- Starlight Shine) overcame trouble on the first corner to claim the leaders going off the back straight and win the Greyhounds WA Autumn Maiden Classic final. The Paul Stuart trained dog finished second on debut in his heat behind Equity Fund. The black dog won by 2 lengths over Who’s Got Subi in 30.37.

WHATTA DREAM (Bobby Boucheau- High Tide Ebony) scored a head win over Imperial Li in a driving finish over the 380 metres. The Murray Ion trained bitch ended a losing sequence of 19 starts when she scored in 22.38.

HELLO I’M RONGO (Barcia Bale- Sharon Monelli) claimed the favourite Westdale Anne on the line to score by a half length in 30.37 after being headed coming to the home corner. The Ben MacLean trained dog had been racing over the 405 metres at Mandurah before returning to Head Quarters where he hadn’t won in 8 starts at the track. The change obviously helped as he showed strength in the run to the line.

20190130 – Cannington Wednesday

WHO’S GOT BYRON (Fabregas- Never Ask) recorded an all the way victory in the final of the Greyhounds WA Summer Maiden Classic defeating litter sister and kennel mate Who’s Got Subi for trainer Rob Westworth. The black dog wasn’t the quickest out, however was able to kick through using the rail position to lead on the first corner. He then went on to win by 1 3/4 lengths in a PB 30.10.

DAVID YELLOW (David Bale- Tearsabout Tears) showed speed from box 1 and recorded his Maiden win for trainer Enzo Crudeli. The brindle dog was having his first start at Cannington after 3 unplaced runs at Mandurah over the 490 metres. He stopped the clock at 22.27 winning by 2 lengths over Blue Diablo.

SHE’S ALL TALK (Barcia Bale- She’s Historic) upset her rivals as she also recorded her Maiden victory. The win was trainer Enzo Crudeli’s third leg of an early training treble before he completed a fantastic night out with 6 winners for evening. The black bitch jumped to the front from box 4 and held off the challengers winning by 1 3/4 lengths over Aussie Salute in 30.51.

VIENNA CHARM (Barcia Bale- Sam’s Sionara) recorded a first up win in the State for new trainer Wayne Beamish. The recent Bendigo winner used plenty of the track as she raced past Aspire Higher to win by 2 1/2 lengths in 22.23.
