20211218 – Cannington Saturday – Christmas Gift

BIONIC POLLY (Hecton Bale- Bionic Black Ant) showed speed from her inside draw and with trouble behind her was able to race away and record a 6 length Maiden victory. The Enzo Crudeli trained bitch had been placed twice from 5 previous starts. The black bitch defeated Tiger Dash in 30.47.

HECTON’S BOY (Hecton Bale- Dubliner) led from box 4 and held out his rivals going into the first corner before racing clear to defeat Lacrymosa by 6 lengths in 30.19. The black dog gave trainer Enzo Crudeli an early race to race double.

RIPPIN’ WILLY (Fernando Bale- Rippin Rose) was able to hold the lead going into the first corner and then was never headed scoring a 1 1/2 length win over West On Radar in 30.11. The Shayne Williams trained dog had been racing consistently, however the win was just his second from 21 tries over the 520 metres.

MAMBO MONELLI (Se Tali Sundance- Camelia Monelli) led throughout in the Free For All defeating Stargazer by 6 lengths in a slick 29.63. The David Hobby trained chaser has now won at his past 3 starts including his last start Anniversary Cup win over VALACHI.

20201219 – Cannington Saturday – Christmas Gift

GRACE ALI ((My Bro Fabio- Born Ali) returned to the winners list with a gutsy win over SA raider Line Seeker in the final of the Greyhounds WA Christmas Gift. The Chris Halse trained bitch has amassed over $230,000 in stake earnings and enjoyed the inside draw in the final where she has finished in the first 3 at 11 of 13 starts. The SA stayer Line  Seeker led early before Grace Ali railed around the home corner before scoring by 3/4 length in 42.19.

COUNTING KUNA (Fernando Bale- Leelicious) recorded his third win in a row after crossing from box 7 and leading throughout winning by 5 lengths over First Rule in 21.80. The Michael Johnston trained sprinter has now recorded 17 wins at Cannington this year and 23 in his career of 37 starts.

ALL ZIPPED UP (Kinloch Brae- Zipping Spring) continued the winning run for trainer Sean Kavanagh after he led throughout and defeated Stargazer by 6 lengths in 29.88. Kavanagh also won the feature Kanyana Cup with Shirakaba the night before at Mandurah.

WICKED RHYTHM (Fernando Bale- Velucci) led from box 7 at her first try over the 715 metres and demolished her rivals winning by 3 1/4 lengths over West On Magada in 42.21. The Enzo Crudeli trained bitch was an impressive winner a few starts prior over the 600 metres and should improve further over the longer distance.

20191221 – Cannington Saturday – Christmas Gift

“Another Feature Win for Reidy’s Runner and Christine Bennett”
The Christmas Gift is a feature event that was first run back in 1975 when Heather Diro won for Dennis Calleja. Other notable winners include Blue Echo (1984), Sand Pebble (1989), Gemarly Park (1996), Jennev (2002), Miata (2012) and Ramifications (2016). Tonight’s edition was collectively worth $30,000 in prize money and a fantastic field was assembled to race over 715m. Reidy’s Runner was sent out a $2.00 favourite despite drawing box five but boasted a fine record over 715m and also won the National Distance title over the same distance earlier in the year. Gran Amor and Grace Ali jousted for the lead in the early stages and Reidy’s Runner settled in a lovely position just off the pace in third position. With 200m to go Reidy’s Runner surged around the pair before dashing clear to win by four lengths. Gran Amor was the runner up a length in front of Grace Ali and close up in fourth was promising stayer Who’s Got Spice. Reidy’s Runner has now won 23 of 61 career starts, over $262,000 in stake money and also took the lead over West On Augie and Premium Share in the 2019 Cannington Trackstar Award.

20181222 – Cannington Saturday

“Moment To Jive wins Christmas Gift and takes career earnings over $225,000”

The Christmas Gift is a feature event that was first run back in 1975 when Heather Diro won for Dennis Calleja. Other notable winners include Blue Echo (1984), Sand Pebble (1989), Gemarly Park (1996), Jennev (2002), Miata (2012) and Ramifications (2016). Tonight’s edition was collectively worth $30,000 in prize money and a fantastic field was assembled to race over 715m. Veteran performer West On Hawkeye rose to 715m for the first time and began quickly from box five to find the lead. Moment To Jive also began cleanly from box one and burrowed up inside rivals to settle in a clear second position whilst favourites Rockstar Patriot and Reidy’s Runner drifted back in the field. West On Hawkeye was unable to hold off Moment To Jive’s brilliant finish and she charged away in the home straight to win by five lengths for Sarah Apppleton. Her time of 41.93 was terrific and the win was her 14th over the distance and her 24th at the track. West On Hawkeye held down second and finished four lengths ahead of the third placed Dyna Dean.
