20220507 – Cannington Saturday

ROCKY BALBOA (Aston Dee Bee- She’s Historic) has always promised plenty, however until tonight had never found himself in front from the start. The Enzo Crudeli trained black dog appreciated the lead position and raced away for his Maiden victory winning by 6 lengths over Sunset Dewey in 30.63.

THROTTLE (West On Augie- West On Hazel) wasn’t the quickest to begin , however with clear galloping room along the fence found the lead into the back straight and then raced away from his kennel mate Hinto to win by 7 lengths in a PB 29.51. The Christine Robartson trained youngster turns two years of age in October and has now won 4 times from 7 starts.

HURRICANE TAYLOR (Fernando Bale- Cropduster) led from outside box and scored his 5th career victory with a 3 length win over Wynburn Burner in 29.95. The Eric Campana trained youngster has always promised a lot and was returning from a month away from the track.

MOMENTUM (Lightning Frank- Belron Bonnie) had to work on the outside of West On Radar before drawing away to score his fourth consecutive win in 29.69. The Cosi Dagostino trained dog is racing in the best form of his career where he has won 18 times from 35 starts with another 10 seconds to his name.

20201219 – Cannington Saturday – Christmas Gift

GRACE ALI ((My Bro Fabio- Born Ali) returned to the winners list with a gutsy win over SA raider Line Seeker in the final of the Greyhounds WA Christmas Gift. The Chris Halse trained bitch has amassed over $230,000 in stake earnings and enjoyed the inside draw in the final where she has finished in the first 3 at 11 of 13 starts. The SA stayer Line  Seeker led early before Grace Ali railed around the home corner before scoring by 3/4 length in 42.19.

COUNTING KUNA (Fernando Bale- Leelicious) recorded his third win in a row after crossing from box 7 and leading throughout winning by 5 lengths over First Rule in 21.80. The Michael Johnston trained sprinter has now recorded 17 wins at Cannington this year and 23 in his career of 37 starts.

ALL ZIPPED UP (Kinloch Brae- Zipping Spring) continued the winning run for trainer Sean Kavanagh after he led throughout and defeated Stargazer by 6 lengths in 29.88. Kavanagh also won the feature Kanyana Cup with Shirakaba the night before at Mandurah.

WICKED RHYTHM (Fernando Bale- Velucci) led from box 7 at her first try over the 715 metres and demolished her rivals winning by 3 1/4 lengths over West On Magada in 42.21. The Enzo Crudeli trained bitch was an impressive winner a few starts prior over the 600 metres and should improve further over the longer distance.

20200718 – Cannington Saturday – W.A. Bred Cannings Final

MON JANET (Kinloch Brae- Starlight Asha) was impressive leading throughout over the 380 metres and scoring by 8 lengths over Chimichurri in a PB 21.80. The black bitch was recently transferred into the care of Adam Smithson and she showed she hasn’t missed a beat. The two year old bitch has now won 3 times from 16 career starts.

CINDY’S OLIVER (Fernando Bale- Claretown Cindy) returned to the staying distance and dominated his rivals with a 6 1/2 length victory over Equilibrium in 42.03. Having finished second behind Rockstar Patriot in the Gr 1 Sky Racing Galaxy at his last try over the distance back in March, the Joe Dailly trained dog also took his stake earnings past the $100,000 mark with the win.

FERNANDO STAR (Fernando Bale- Star Recall) was able to hold the lead going into the first corner and then held off Steve Monelli in the home straight to win by 3/4 length in 29.88. The Chris Halse trained dog has now won 11 of 21 starts and over $57,000 in stake earnings.

20191228 – Cannington Saturday

NESSA’S YASMIN (Barcia Bale- Nessa Shim) opened up her winning account in WA for new trainer Joe Dailly with an all the way victory from box 6. The former Victorian trained bitch was having just her third start in the state and showed improvement last start when placed second behind Tommy Shelby. The black bitch clocked a PB 30.03 in defeating Redcap Monelli by 1 1/2 lengths.

FLAKE MONELLI (Fernando Bale- Dyna Sandy) lowered West On Augie’s race record for a City Grade 5 when he flew around to win by 13 1/4 lengths in 29.48. The David Hobby youngster was fitted with blinkers for the first time and the positive results were instant. The win over Sprite Monelli was her 9th from just 17 career starts.

KISS ME LINDA (Kinloch Brae- West On Bluebird) led for the majority of the race to record a 3/4 length win over Campini in 29.89. The Chris Halse trained bitch had been racing consistently without winning in FFA company before her win tonight. She has now won 13 times from 38 starts. Part owners Brad and Steven Parham both rode winners at Ascot earlier in the day.

20191123 – Cannington Saturday

“Freddo Monelli leads all the way for David Hobby”

Noted fast beginner Freddo Monelli caused a mini upset tonight when she led throughout to defeat $1.50 favourite Who’s Got Cash. The son of Barcia Bale exploded out of box two to set the pace and ended up scoring by just over a length in a fast 29.84. Who’s Got Cash had his chance to reel him in and although closing on the line never really looked like overtaking. The consistent Ollie Machine finished powerfully for third position and continues to earn on a regular basis. Freddo Monelli is owned and trained out of Nambeelup by David Hobby and has now won 8 of 15 career starts all of which have been over 520m at Cannington.
Race 2 Number 6 KISS ME LINDA : Bounced out brilliantly and led all the way in a quality 30.00.
Race 3 Number 5 FANTASTIC GHOST : Battled on gamely to run a gutsy second over 715m and overtake Gran Amor in the shadows of the post.
