20201003 – Cannington Saturday – Distance Potential Heats

“Rambo’s Boy wins Distance Potential Heat for Enzo”

Promising youngster Rambo’s Boy drew awkwardly tonight in the first heat of the Distance Potential series (600m). From box five he began moderately before accelerating through the first turn and finding the lead. Former Queenslander Winlock Power couldn’t match the son of Kinloch Brae in the middle stages and was unable to make ground in the home straight. Rambo’s Boy cruised to the line, winning in a smart 35.00 given it was his debut over the distance. Winlock Power held second position ahead of the fast finishing Zipping Vegas who whizzed home for Serpentine trainer Dwayne Jovanovic. Race favourite West On Roger began only fairly before being squeezed out on entering the home straight on the first occasion. Rambo’s Boy now boasts the impeccable career record of 22 starts for 7 wins and 12 minor placings. He is owned by the same connections as the Perth Cup winning Equanimity, owned by Robbie Brankstone and trained by Enzo Crudeli. Twenty minutes later Rambo’s Boy’s full brother Historic Time took out the second heat. Both have drawn awkwardly for next Saturday’s Final.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 2 Number 4 SHIRAKABA : Motored home to win after her usual slow getaway and shows staying potential.

Race 3 Number 5 RIPPIN’ CROW : Cashed in on some trouble at the front of the field to win but was rushing into the contest regardless, is racing very well.

THAT DUDE (Lochinvar Marlow- Oxley Falcon) crossed from box 7 to lead throughout over the 520 metres, winning by 1 3/4 lengths over Wild Aaron in 30.07. The Sarah Appleton trained dog has in a purple patch of form in May before finding trouble at his past 3 runs.

The Enzo Crudeli trained dog recently won the Gr 2 WA Derby and Winter Cup. Cobra Clutch has now finished second behind a Crudeli trained runner at his past 3 outings.

EQUANIMITY (Barcia Bale- She’s Historic) shot straight to the front and led throughout in the opening heat of The Westchase. The Enzo Crudeli trained dog has now won 4 of his past 5 starts and will head into the final as a leading chance again because of his early speed from the boxes. The Gr 1 Perth Cup winner has now won 13 times from 25 starts.

PYREDOS MONELLI (Bekim Bale- Luba Monelli) was able to work up to the leader Yuup going along the back straight before drawing away for a 1 1/4 length win in the second heat of The Westchase. With the race favourite Vanderworp missing the start, Yuup was able to lead before being claimed in a winners time of 30.05.

20170520 – Cannington Saturday

SASSY GINGER (Kinloch Brae- Sassy Guess) took out the Gr 2 Britton’s Formal Wear WA Derby and continued the winning run of trainer Enzo Crudeli who had earlier in the year won his first Gr 1 Sky Racing Perth Cup. Crudeli also won last years WA Derby with Shell Shocked. The red brindle dog owned by Jodie Jennings, shot to the lead from box 5 and raced clear to win by 2 1/2 lengths over Honcho Monelli and Ouchamp in 30.22. The race favourite and track record holder Quick Jagger was checked on the first corner when Vanderworp checked off heels in front of him. For Sassy Ginger though the win took his stake earnings past $120,000 after having been placed earlier in the year behind kennel mate Equanimity in the Perth Cup final.

WEST ON MAISIE (Barcia Bale- Zelemar Fever) was able to hunt up along the rails and hold the lead going into the first corner before racing into next weeks Gr 2 Final of the WA Oaks. The Chris Halse trained bitch is undefeated in 4 starts from box 1 and held off the Sara Appleton trained Moment To Jive by a length in 30.01 in the opening heat.

MOMENT TO RUMBA (Mogambo- Sharon Monelli) was nearly last past the judge the first time before weaving his way through the field to give young trainer Sara Appleton her first winner in a heat of a Gr 2 series. The black bitch swept up on the leader Lini Danco on the home corner and went on to win by 2 1/4 lengths in 30.44. Appleton now has two finalists in next weeks Gr 2 WA Oaks, a remarkable feat considering she was in a coma and on life support only a few years ago.

MY NAME’S EMMA (Bookkeeper- Isabrooke) jumped well from box 7 and crashed across to lead past the judge the first time before setting up a handy break along the back straight. The brindle bitch went on to win the third heat by 3 lengths over Weedle Monelli in 30.22. Trained Terry Erenshaw won the WA Oaks last year with Molly Keeping.

CADICE (Barcia Bale- Poco) finished off a very good week for trainer John Carmody as she led throughout to win the 4th heat of the WA Oaks. Carmody had been diagnosed and treated for Cancer and earlier in the week was given the all clear of the disease by his doctors. Cadice defeated West On Beth by 4 lengths in 30.30.
