20200215 – Cannington Saturday – Puppy Classic Heats

TOMMY SHELBY (Fernando Bale- Serena Fly High) was outstanding winning the opening heat of the Puppy Classic. Leading from box 6, the undefeated at Cannington pup raced past his inside rivals with ease and set up a margin along the back straight. The Steve Withers youngster went onto record a PB 29.58 defeating Zack Monelli by 4 lengths.

CHIMERA MONELLI (Fernando Bale- Sahannah Monelli) led from box 2 in the second heat of the Puppy Classic and was never threatened, scoring by 5 lengths in 29.68. Trainer David Hobby prepared the first 3 across the line with Sandman Monelli finishing second ahead of Kirra Monelli.

STAR BOOK (Barcia Bale- Saving Bundles) only recorded her first win at Cannington 3 days before, however the Jamie Marsh trained youngster was not fazed as she won the final heat of the Puppy Classic by 5 lengths over Werewolf Monelli in 29.74. The black bitch has now won at her past 3 starts after having won her Maiden at her 5th career outing.

20200201 – Cannington Saturday – The Miata Final

GRACE ALI (My Bro Fabio- Born Ali) caused an upset win by winning the Gr 3 final of the Miata. The Chris Halse trained bitch ran home from midfield down the back straight and claimed the leader Inversion in the home straight to win by 3/4 length with Zipping Galon back in third place. Grace Ali won last years Gr 2 WA Oaks and has only recently stepped up to the longer journeys. Race favourite Tornado Tears found an immense amount of trouble and finished unplaced behind Flake Monelli who filled the  fourth position.

TOMMY SHELBY (Fernando Bale- Serena Fly High) led from box 2 clocking 5.48 first split before putting paid to his rivals with a 6 length win over Venus And Mars and Eighty Eight in the opening heat of the Sandi’s Me Mum memorial. Last years winner of the series West On Augie was unplaced after finding trouble. Tommy Shelby is undefeated in 5 starts at Cannington and stopped the clock at 29.94.

STARLIGHT YOYO (Fernando Bale- Starlight Delly) led from box 1 and although pressured early by Kiss Me Linda, the black bitch was able to drive away to win by 5 lengths in 29.87. The Paul Stuart trained bitch has now won 4 times from 7 starts from the inside draw and has won 25 times from 48 career starts.

ZACK MONELLI (Barcia Bale- Penny Monelli) demolished his rivals with a brilliant all the victory from box 4. The David Hobby trained dog clocked 5.50 early spli before racing clear of his rivals to win by 17 lengths in a PB 29.47. The black dog has now won 6 times from 10 career starts.

20200104 – Cannington Saturday – Summer Chase Heats

PREASSEMBLED (Tureaud- Sharon Monelli) broke through for his Maiden win with an all the way victory over kennel mate Transpire, scoring by 2 lengths in 22.35. The Ben Maclean trained youngster had recently finished second twice.

ZACK MONELLI (Barcia Bale- Penny Monelli) had to work hard after being crossed by kennel mate Pixie Monelli in the home straight the first time, before drawing clear to win by 2 1/2 lengths in 30.21. The David Hobby trained dog has now won 3 times from 6 starts. The fields were effected once again by the Gastrointestinal illness currently effecting the greyhound population in WA.

DON’T GUESS (Barcia Bale- Te Amo) recorded an 11 length win over Shinboner for returning trainer Christine Robartson. The black dog stopped the clock at 29.91 after having been placed second at his past 3 starts. Robartson was a leading trainer in WA before she travelled with husband Dave and then had to over come health issues.

SUNNYSIDE UP (Don Chendo- Tricky Violet) led throughout over the 520 metres to score a 1 1/4 length win over Venus And Mars in 30.15. The Linda Smithson trained bitch had won her previous start at Mandurah in 28.01 and has now won 8 times in 47 career starts.

20191130 – Cannington Saturday – Anniversary Cup Heats

DANICA KEEPING (Barcia Bale- Becky Keeping) led throughout and was strong to the line scoring by a half length over Venus And Mars in 30.19. The recent Gr 3 Young Stars winner is trained by Shayne Williams and has now recorded 12 wins from 32 career starts.

REIDY’S RUNNER (Dyna Double One- Buxton Miss) ran down the leader Gran Amor to record his 13th win over the 715 metres by 5 lengths in 41.97. The Christine Bennett trained black dog pocketed another $6,300 to go to in access of $240,000 in stake earnings.

DYNA OSCAR (Fernando Bale- Unix Bale) jumped perfectly from box 1 and was able to hold out Kiss Me Linda and Jade’s Blade running into the first corner. The Enzo Crudeli trained dog recorded his third win in a row scoring by 6 lengths in the opening heat of the Anniversary Cup.

JERKY BOY (High Earner- West On Raven) was able to cross from box 6 and lead throughout in the second heat of the Anniversary Cup. The Chris Halse trained dog stepped up in class and scored by 2 1/2 lengths over Dandalup Casper in 29.92.

20191109 – Cannington Saturday – Young Stars Classic Heats

CHOMP MONELLI (Fernando Bale- Dyna Sandy) railed perfectly down the backs straight to find the lead from kennel mate Royce Monelli before driving away to win by 3 1/2 lengths in a PB 30.02. The David Hobby trained dog goes into the Gr 3 Final of the Young Stars after his heat win and hopes to join Topaz Monelli as Hobby’s other winner in the series.

SUNSET KODIAK (Barcia Bale- Minnesota Nice) showed brilliant speed from her outside draw to lead and then hold out her kennel mates Rolo Monelli and Flake Monelli by a nose in 30.15. The win in the second heat of the Gr 3 Young Stars gives trainer David Hobby 5 of the 8 runners in the final next week.

GRACE ALI (My Bro Fabio- Born Ali) enjoyed the rise in distance as she returned to the winners list with a 1 1/2 length win over Snallygaster in a PB 34.74. The Chris Halse trained bitch has now won 3 times from 6 tries over the 600 metres. The win comes after recent success in a heat of the Gr 2 All Stars Sprint before finishing last behind Alicante Bouchet in the final.

JADE’S BLADE (Kinloch Brae- Bluey’s Fate) led throughout from box 2 to record back to back wins in FFA company. The Joe Dailly trained bitch defeated Two Times Twice by 3/4 length in 29.95. The black bitch won the Puppy Classic earlier in the year as well as the Peter Thomas and Canning Trophy finals.
