“Redcap Monelli overcomes box eight to win Summer Chase Final”

20201003 – Cannington Saturday – Distance Potential Heats

“Rambo’s Boy wins Distance Potential Heat for Enzo”

Promising youngster Rambo’s Boy drew awkwardly tonight in the first heat of the Distance Potential series (600m). From box five he began moderately before accelerating through the first turn and finding the lead. Former Queenslander Winlock Power couldn’t match the son of Kinloch Brae in the middle stages and was unable to make ground in the home straight. Rambo’s Boy cruised to the line, winning in a smart 35.00 given it was his debut over the distance. Winlock Power held second position ahead of the fast finishing Zipping Vegas who whizzed home for Serpentine trainer Dwayne Jovanovic. Race favourite West On Roger began only fairly before being squeezed out on entering the home straight on the first occasion. Rambo’s Boy now boasts the impeccable career record of 22 starts for 7 wins and 12 minor placings. He is owned by the same connections as the Perth Cup winning Equanimity, owned by Robbie Brankstone and trained by Enzo Crudeli. Twenty minutes later Rambo’s Boy’s full brother Historic Time took out the second heat. Both have drawn awkwardly for next Saturday’s Final.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 2 Number 4 SHIRAKABA : Motored home to win after her usual slow getaway and shows staying potential.

Race 3 Number 5 RIPPIN’ CROW : Cashed in on some trouble at the front of the field to win but was rushing into the contest regardless, is racing very well.
