20230120 – Mandurah Friday

“Tsar Bell powers home to win 647m Free For All”

Classy stayer Tsar Bell overcame interference to take out tonight’s Mandurah Stockfeeds Provincial Free For All over 647m. The former Tasmanian had won his previous two starts over 715m at Cannington and after being shuffled back to second last tonight, at half way was able to fly home and score by half a length. Columbus Monelli had won all five Mandurah starts but over shorter journeys and was found wanting at the business end tonight. Tsar Bell won narrowly and there was three lengths between the runner up and the third placed Soda Saville. Tsar Bell began his career in Victoria before heading to Tasmania and racing with success over 580m at Devonport, 599m at Hobart and 600m at Launceston. It wasn’t until he came to WA and to top trainer Adam Smithson before he stepped up to 715m and matured into a topline stayer.
