20180529 – Cannington Tuesday

“Elfstar creates big impression at Cannington debut”

Lochinvar Marlow sired chaser Elfstar was heavily backed in tonight’s Free Entry at TABtouch Park Maiden over 380m. He first qualified at Mandurah back in February when he led throughout in a smart 23.22. He debuted there with a second behind Lottie Deno but was deemed to have raced ungenerously by stewards. This meant he had to complete a Steward’s Trial before racing again and he did that on May 21 at Cannington when he clocked a fast 22.04 over 380m. Tonight he resumed for Banjup trainer John Carmody and after being heavily backed into a $2.00 fixed odds favourite he exploded out of box five and quickly set up a four length lead. He then charged away to win by a whopping ten lengths in the exceptional time of 21.81. The John Cole trained Daisy Eyes was the runner up and she finished two lengths in advance of the third placed Hold It Together for Eric Campana. Elfstar is two and a half years old and with those outstanding box manners looks set to lead and win many races for the Bacc Syndicate and his new trainer John Carmody.
