20180301 – Mandurah Thursday

“Diva De Kahn notches a hat-trick of Mandurah victories”

Former Victorian chaser Diva De Kahn has improved sharply since being switched to the Mandurah circuit by Southern River trainer Ben MacLean. The son of Barcia Bale won 1 of 7 in Victoria and that effort was over 520m at the roomy venue of Cranbourne. He struggled when he first arrived in WA managing just one minor placing from his first three starts at the Cannington track. Then on February 13 he debuted at Mandurah with a fast finishing triumph over 405m in 23.17. He followed up a week later with a better win in 22.86 and tonight’s victory showed further improvement. Outsider Ezi Pick (box 4) had exploded to an early lead but Diva De Kahn (box 1) also began cleanly and settled second at the first turn. Race favourites Dustier (box 7) and Dance Away (box 8) had begun poorly from their wide draws and both settled well back. Turning for home Diva De Kahn leveled up with Ezi Pick before storming to victory in a smart 22.82. Ezi Pick held second for Harrisdale trainer Lexia Isaac and a length away third was outsider Lady Cersei. Diva De Kahn shows plenty of promise and given how powerfully she finishes over 405m there looks to be plenty of money-making potential over longer journeys.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 3 Number 1 KIERAN KEEPING : Chased home Charcoal Avenue in a smart time and looks ready to win.

Race 4 Number 3 ZIPPING KNOT : Continued her strong form when she reeled in Triple Crown Blu to score in 23.05.
