20180201 – Mandurah Thursday

“Billy Brass causes major boilover”

Tonight’s Quaddie Time Free For All over 405m produced a rough result, with $30 pop Billy Brass winning by two lengths. The son of Vee Man Vane started his career in Southern Queensland and Northern NSW where he won races at Moree, Grafton, Coonabarabran, Capalaba and Coonamble. He made his WA debut for Nambeelup trainer Darren Rowe (Pictured) on January 12 when a handy third behind the smart Fernando Monelli. He followed up with a second to the same chaser before striking bother and finishing last on Boxing Day. Tonight he mustered to the lead at the first turn and while odds on favourite Issue had his chance to overtake Billy Brass he was unable to do so. Billy Brass is owned by Jamie McHugh and returned a might win dividend of $30.40 and the First Four returned a gigantic $9359.30. The winning time of 22.96 suggests it won’t be his last victory at the Mandurah track.

Race 3 Number 3 BUZZARD : Came up against a smart field tonight and although finishing fifth was surging home. Expect a big show in a more suitable race.

Race 5 Number 7 ADELE KEEPING : Flooded home to run third and once she draws an inside box she will take a power of beating.
