20171005 – Mandurah Thursday

“Oldmate Mia bows out of racing with a victory”

Honest sprinter Oldmate Mia has been around for a while and was a ‘swan song winner’ this evening over the 302m distance. The Pete Brown, Banjup prepared chaser charged out of box one before leading throughout by three lengths in the smart time of 17.34. Her owners, members of the Odd Squad Syndicate were on course to witness her final outing and were thrilled to meet her on the podium after the win. She retires with 79 starts under her belt which resulted in 11 wins, 24 minor placings and more than $27,000 in career earnings. Her career began at Dubbo in NSW in March of 2015 before having 8 starts in SA and then settling in WA where the majority of her wins occurred over 380m (Cannington) and 405m (Mandurah). Her next phase of life will be in the breeding barn before retiring on a couch somewhere.
