“Marciana impresses for Pete Brown”

Wide tracker Marciana was an all the way winner over 302m tonight in the $29 Thursday Buffet Novice. Whilst coursing wide in races means he covers more ground than his rivals, it can also work in a greyhound’s favour being free of traffic/congestion. Marciana pinged out of box four and quickly headed to the outside part of the track. Race favourite Is She What bombed the start from box six and settled ten lengths behind the field. Bit Coin Broad (box eight) and Summer Supreme (box five) both began speedily but were caught on the outside of Marciana in the initial stages. As Marciana shifted further up the track Bit Coin Broad ducked down to the fence but as they straightened Marciana extended his lead, winning by two lengths in 17.38. Bit Coin Broad finished second for Nambeelup trainer Darrren Rowe and Summer Supreme was third for Barragup trainer Jim Rennick. Marciana is owned by Bill McNally and prepared out of Banjup by Pete Brown. He has now started 29 times for 2 wins and 9 minor placings.
