20170804 – Mandurah Friday

“Thunder Rama chalks up his 45th career victory”

Veteran chaser Thunder Rama raced for the 180th time tonight and after winning over 380m at Cannington last week started a warm favourite in tonight’s opening event. King Debello (box 6) was first to begin and headed down to the rail, allowing plenty of space for Thunder Rama (box 7) to muster down the outside. Thunder Rama cruised past his rivals at the first turn and while Collectanator made ground in the middle stages another triumph for Thunder Rama was never in doubt. The John Iwanyk prepared ‘greybeard’ raced away to win by three lengths in the fast time of 22.76. Collectanator ran a promising second with King Debello another two lengths away in third position. Thunder Rama really is a marvel, he turns six years old in September and now has the impressive record of 45 wins, 67 minor placings and more than $240,000 in stake money. He won his Maiden over 400m at Bulli (NSW) in May 2013 and since arriving in WA has been as resilient as any greyhound in history.  Pictured : Thunder Rama
