“Morris Memory wins in a blanket finish for Iwanyk”

On July 11 the John Iwanyk prepared Morris Memory broke a losing sequence of 31 when he charged home from fifth at the first turn to defeat Achelous over 405m at Mandurah. This evening, on the back of that victory he rose to Mixed 3/4 company and despite having box one was sent out at the juicy odds of $26.20. Fellow outsider Odd Couple flew out of box six and quickly crossed the face of the field, impeding the likes of Stockton (box five) and Smooth Ride (box four). Morris Memory settled fifth at the first turn and was in plenty of traffic. Turning for home Stockton leveled up to Odd Couple and Morris Memory and Smooth Ride both angled for passages between them. Morris Memory’s surge was well timed and he snatched victory by a head over Smooth Ride who was also flying home. Stockton finished third just ahead of Obstruction (fourth) and Odd Couple faded to fifth. Morris Memory is trained out of Nambeelup and has now won 12 of 66 career starts and been placed on another 23 occasions.
