20170622 – Mandurah Thursday

“Lolly Thief snatches a last stride victory”

Mandurah specialist Lolly Thief surged down the outside to claim her eighth career victory in tonight’s Prime Trophies Mixed 3/4 over 302m. Owned and trained out of Nambeelup by Kylie McLennan (pictured), the daughter of Ricky’s A Robber isn’t known for being a powerful finisher. She has always been an explosive beginner, winning over all three Mandurah sprint distances (302m, 405m and 490m) using her early pace. In late May she led throughout over 302m after beginning like a rocket and winning in 17.30. Tonight Lolly Thief settled in third position behind Skeit and Ima Paddlin’ before wobbling wide at the top of the straight and covering the leaders to score by a head. Lolly Thief’s mother Roxy Mac was a sensational race bitch for McLennan, winning races at the top level. The meeting was called off by stewards following the third race due to the state of the track. The ‘wettest’ June day for 31 years unfortunately got the better of the racing surface.

Race 1 Number 3 LEO GUNDI : Was shuffled back early before motoring home to be close up in third.

Race 2 Number 6 PAUL : Is crying out for an inside box over 302m.
