Batangas capitalises on box one

Noted railer Batangas drew his first inside box for some time in today’s Love The Chase Grade 6 over 297m. The large 36kg son of Kinloch Brae flew out of box one and held the lead at the first turn before winning in a smart 17.39 over favourite New Course and the third placed Kabal. At Batangas’s last six starts he had jumped from boxes 7, 8, 7, 6, 8 and 6. Given his railing tendencies the switch to pole position today was always going to be a big advantage. After his clean getaway he was always in prime position to take out the event and his $8.00 fixed odds price in hindsight was well over the odds. He is owned and trained out of Pinjar by trainer Craig Shore (pictured) and has now won 8 of 52 career starts.

Race 2 Number 2 KABAL : Began nicely and battled on gamely to finish a close up third.

Race 5 Number 5 HARD HAT MICK : Showed speed out of the boxes before winning in 17.43.
