20170121 – Cannington Saturday

BOGIE BEKIM (Bekim Bale- Bogie Skye) was impressive on debut in WA with an all the way win over the 715metres. The SA trained dog, prepared by Ben Rawlings, had won at his past 3 starts at Angle Park and is being set for the $150,000 Gr 1 Sky Racing Galaxy with the heats being conducted next Saturday night. The black dog defeated his rivals headed by Zipping Bella by 6 lengths in 42.12.

PEPPER FIRE (Spiral Nikita- West On Bluebird) warmed up for the Gr 1 Sky Racing Perth Cup heats next week with a dominant all the way win in 30.03. The Chris Halse trained bitch, hot off her recent win in the Gr 3 Birthday Cup at Mandurah, defeated Brock On by 2 1/4 lengths.

GOLD RESERVE (Brett Lee- Starlight Delly) jumped to the lead from box 1 in the Prelude of the Perth Cup and was never headed for trainer Paul Stuart. The black dog recently returned from injury and was having just his second start back from a spell. The black dog won by 2 lengths over Monaro Monelli in 30.01.

TEDDY MONELLI (Mogambo- Jackie Bale) led through out in the Prelude of the Gr 1 Sky Racing Galaxy. The David Hobby trained black dog held out the race favourite Ramifications early and was never headed scoring by 1 1/2 lengths in 42.14. The black dog goes into the heats of the Galaxy as one of WA’s leading chances of keeping the riches on offer here in the West and has only just turned two years of age.

JAIMANDY HATTY. Trialled solo during the meeting over the 600 metres in preparation for the Gr 1 Sky Racing Galaxy heats next Saturday night. The Paul Donahue trained Victorian hugged the rail and stopped the clock at a respectable 35.03. In great news for the WA greyhound industry, RWWA reversed its decision to reduce stake money by 20% for the Perth Cup and Galaxy as well as 10% for all Feature races in WA. The Gr 1 Sky Racing Perth Cup reverts too $225,000 ($150,000 to the winner) and Gr 1 Sky Racing Galaxy $150,000 ($100,000 to the winner). Nominations close 8.30am WST.
