20160922 – Mandurah Thursday

“Training treble for Appleton”

Honest short-courser Anna Keeping made full use of box one in tonight’s Mandurah Mail Novice over 302m. The daughter of Magic Sprite hadn’t raced since August 11 when fifth over the 405m distance from the unsuitable pink box. Tonight she struck speedy types New Course (box five) and Lagertha Monelli (box eight) but with the advantage of the red alley was able to drive through and hold them out in the early (and vital) stages. Whilst Lagertha Monelli wound up late and rocketed home she fell a neck short and Anna Keeping reigned supreme in 17.41. Anna Keeping has now won 3 of 24 career starts for Canning Vale owner and trainer Sarah Appleton and will continue to take beating when she draws inside given her mad railing tendencies. Her three career victories have resulted from boxes one, two and three. Appleton notched a training treble after Yambla Stu took out the fifth race and That Dude won the seventh. HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 1 Number 2 ROSIE CHOICE : Flew from the boxes and won easily, posting 17.21 over 302m which suggests she is going to win a lot of races.

Race 5 Number 5 BUZZARD : Flashed home for an eye-catching second and looks ready to win.
