20160728 – Mandurah Thursday

“Fancy Lil overcomes box eight for Cook”

Honest and speedy bitch Fancy Lil gained a run as a reserve from box eight in tonight’s opening event, the $29 Thursday Buffet Grade 5 over 302m. She was unplaced five times in a row before improving last start at Northam when a runner up over 297m from box five. This evening she began fairly and was third just prior to straightening before ducking down to the rail at the top of the straight. The leading pair bumped, namely Hello I’m Donny and Marmion Star and they both lost momentum. This allowed Fancy Lil to hit the front and then win by a length. Hello I’m Donny finished second ahead of former Victorian Marmion Star who is sure to benefit from her first look at the track. Fancy Lil has now won 7 of her 22 career starts for Canning Vale trainer Brad Cook and she is still young given her birth month of December 2013.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 2 Number 2 ODD COUPLE : Recovered from a slow getaway to post a brilliant win in 17.14. Looks ready for a rise to 405m.

Race 3 Number 7 BONBIE LAD : Caught the eye out wide to grab third and a wide draw over a longer trip would suit nicely.
