20160502 Cannington Monday

“Monday arvo picnic for Jeffries”

Nambeelup trainer James Jeffries prepared four winners at the Country Class Cannington meeting on Monday afternoon. He took out the opening event with Oz Ten Tatious who booted up strongly from box one after a fair jump to score in 16.37. On what is generally considered to be a leader biased track in it’s infancy, Tangam Flash bucked that trend for Jeffries in the fifth race, roaring home from sixth at the first turn to reel in handy youngsters Starlight Beauty and Benny Button. The third victory was just as impressive, Sweet Intention was having her third start in the space of eight days over the new 600m journey. She was fourth at the half way mark before unleashing a big sprint along the fence to salute by three lengths. Mandurah specialist Stanga Doug completed the quartet of winners when he ran down speedster Belfast Tommy over the 520m journey in 30.71. A fifth winner almost landed in the last when Cosmic Malteze was pipped on the post by the Kody Charles prepared Lightning Larico. Jeffries now has an impressive win tally of 32 for this calendar year.
