20160422 Mandurah Friday

“Flame On Rocks continues on winning way”

Rejuvenated 405m dog Flame On Rocks was a surprise winner of the first race last Friday night when he saluted in 22.65 at odds of $19.10. Tonight in the same grade and from the same box he repeated the dose in 22.73. Given the quality performance last Friday night he only returned $3.10 with the WA TAB this evening. Trained by the Nambeelup based Phil Worthington, Flame On Rocks has always shown ability but early in his career lacked box manners and had only managed 2 wins from his first 37 starts. That area of his racing has improved sharply under the guidance of Worthington and next week he will rise to Provincial Grade 4 company and be hard to beat. Little Bit Nifty was the runner up tonight and only beaten a length, ahead of the third placed Cheeky Two. Four Swan Draught Mandurah Derby heats were also run with first and second from each race advancing to next Friday’s Final. Winners were Brock On (27.60), Big Col Prosser (27.68), Topology (27.55) and Shell Shocked (27.64). Racing and Wagering Steward Graham Todd O’Dea conducted the box draw and the balls fell this way :

  1. CAMP SITE
  2. KAL’S ALL HEART
  3. TOPOLOGY
  4. BROCK ON
  5. BOUNCE DOWN
  6. BLACK KOTTER
  7. BIG COL PROSSER
  8. SHELL SHOCKED
  9. MONARO MONELLI
  10. CHARLIE BOY
