20150905 Mandurah Saturday

The 405m at Mandurah was no concern for ALF MONELLI (R1 N1) who step to the lead and won in grade 4/5 company tonight.

Trainer David Hobby found a winning formula by bringing the white and black dog back from the 509m at Northam after three consecutive third placings.

His typical burst of speed early landed him in the lead early from the inside draw and had to hold off Winsome Amanda who produced a good effort and Encapsulate got the nod in third.

FUN PRINCESS broke a three and a half month winless streak in the free-for-all over 405m.

The Lexia Isaac-trained chaser last won on April 24, but appreciated the drop to country company after open and grade two provincial class.

The time of 22.74 was solid, but the most impressive factor of the win was the strength Fun Princess showed from box four after a tight start.

Kardy Girl was an eye-catcher finishing second and finishing the race strongly and Shekel Monelli was third from the tricky draw of box seven.

Greyhounds to follow:

STARBOOST (R3 N8) was electric in beating a high class city grade five field over 490m from the outside box. The Mandurah Oaks winner defeated the Mandurah Derby winner in Stanga Doug, who jumped from the green box, after a fast start. The in-form Emily’s Sweet was also in the field as was the talented Downlight, but unfortunately something looked to go amiss with the speedy Downlight around the back turn. It was a return to winning form for Starboost after three thirds and a seventh in her last four runs.

Equally impressive was ALL STRUNG OUT who won the free-for-all over 490m with a powerful finish. He was dynamic running over Thunder Rama and holding off Astronomize in a competitive field.

Sub Zero Sahara (pictured with his happy owners) took out Race 11 over 490m.
