20150618 Mandurah Thursday

HOSS FUNK was not at his usual brillant best from the boxes tonight, but was still too good for the field in the free for all grade over 302m.
It was win number three from his last three starts for the Grant Campbell-trained chaser who was strong to the line after settling behind WA newcomer Bogie Emerald in the run.
The time of 17.17 was not his best, but his will to win was clearly visible as he claimed the victory from the fast-finishing On The Fly and Bogie Emerald.
Bogie Emerald should also be followed after a promising WA debut in wet conditions.
The former South Australia will improve with more trips to TABtouch Park.

Greyhounds to follow:

ARIZONA ROCKET (R1 N6). The appropriately named chaser has won twice in two starts after just one win from her first 19 career starts. She clocked an impressive win in the Garde 5, 302m race tonight. Fast starts have been her go recently and the John Graham-trained daughter of Indiana Showgirl has run two personal bests in her last two starts. Finishing in 17.30 last week and 17.13 tonight.

TEX MONELLI (R3 N3). The Dave Hobby-trained chaser made it a hat-trick of wins with a strong 490m debut victory tonight. He had been winning in good style at Northam before tonight’s triumphant and looks capable of continuing the streak. The clock stopped at 27.69, almost 0.30 fastest then the grade, track and distance average.
