20150522 Mandurah Friday

Thunder Rama scored a well-deserved win tonight over 490m in 27.49, just .07 off his personal best.
The three-year-old found the front in the race of the night with plenty of quality involved and hung on to defeated Quartz Bale, who was a touch unlucky, and Last Day.
Quartz Bale started a red-hot favourite but found it tough from the pink rug, he managed to find the rail mid-race, but also found traffic.
The 405m track record holder was flying late and with a good draw maybe could have won.
Taking nothing away from Thunder Rama however who had finished second in four of his last five starts.
Victory in the free for all race was career triumphant number 21 from 81 starts for the John Iwanyk-trained chaser.

Greyhounds to follow:

ARMANI (R3 N1). Chalked up win number six from seven career starts in tough style, the only time out of the top three was in open company. The Steve Shinners-trained chaser was not his usual explosive self at the start and was headed by Mazin Flash, but fought off the challenge, showing strength and a will to win. The time of 22.78 was not the fastest, but the win over the 405m was impressive. A jump to higher classes of races would not surprise in the near future.

LACHLAN ZOO (R4 N2). Is starting to gain a reputation of a Mandurah specialist after three wins from his last three attempts at TABtouch Park. Tonight capped off the hat-trick over 490m in a Grade 4/5. He stalked the speed before being too strong over the concluding stages and showed he should always respected when making the trip south.
