20150312 Mandurah Thursday

Gearbox Charlie announced himself in WA tonight at TABtouch Park Mandurah in the $29 Thursday Buffet Grade 5 over 302m.
The Nick Minutillo-trained chaser looked a completely different Dog to the one that made his WA debut, at the same track and over the same distance on March 5.
He took tremendous improvement from that eighth placing and flew the boxes tonight to lead and never looked like getting beaten.
His form suggests more improvement is to come, his last victory prior to tonight came over 461m in Hobart.
His record now reads four wins from nine career starts.
Hated Bullett headed the beaten brigade, four lengths behind the winner, while Fly Bayou ran into third.
Mantra Blue finished fourth after being slowly away, but made ground in the home straight.
There are little signs, that with a bit of luck, his long winless streak could come to an end soon.
Nitro Rocks also loved the short course at Mandurah and chalked up win number two in the space of four days, triumphant in the A1 Salvage and Hardware Grade 4/5.
After a month of consistent runs, the black dog has rewarded owner-trainer Graeme Hall with two consecutive wins.
It was win number five from 20 attempts for the four-year-old when drawn the inside alley.
It’s been a while between drinks for second place getter Lost Outlaw who finally returned to the top three.
It was the first placing for the black dog since December last year.
High Babe finished third, the third successive run the chaser has finished in that placing.
Nitro Rocks was the fastest of the early short course races, but by the narrowest of margins.
He stopped the clock in a time of 17.27, while Gearbox Charlie ran a slick 17.28.
