Tabtouch Dawesville Cup Heats

The Dawesville Cup is a series restricted to Provincial Grade 4 chasers over the distance of 490m at Mandurah. The race was first run in 1999 when Ruling Reason scored for Christine Robartson. Linda Britton won the next four in a row and last year Paul Stuart won with Astronomic in a brilliant time of 27.33. Tonight two heats were contested with the first four across the line in each event advancing to next Friday’s final. Heat One produced a dazzling all the way win from the Ross Honor trained Jess’ Fantasy. The daughter of Irish sire Premier Fantasy made full use of box one and led throughout in a fast 27.72. The Casuarina based Extrovert who was debuting over the distance ran a gallant second and was within a length of the winner on the line. Romeo Keeping finished a distant third ahead of Nice Lil’ Earner. The second heat provided a grandstand finish with Jive Talking weakening late and Sitar Monelli flying home, with the former gripping on by a neck. The winning time was 27.86, more than two lengths slower than the time Jess’ Fantasy recorded twenty minutes earlier. The other two to qualify out of the second heat were Miss Skyline (third) and West On Abba (fourth). Stewards Cameron Kerr and Simon Jones conducted the box draw on course ;

Hounds to Follow :

RACE 1 NUMBER 2 HOMEWARD : Was clearly last to leave the boxes before running a bold third.

RACE 3 NUMBER 6 SIMPLY FAB : Stormed home to win in 22.86 and won’t mind a longer trip next start.
