20150627 Cannington Saturday

ROMEO’S COMET (Kinloch Brae- Starlight Delly) started the night off on a winning note for the states leading trainer Paul Stuart when he ran past Celtic Coin to win by 4 lengths in 30.60. The last night of racing at Cannington on a track that was started over 40 years ago saw a large crowd witness the close relation to Miata score his 17 career victory.

DYNA FULCRUM (Surf Lorian- Penelope Bale) caused a boilover as he held off kennel mate by 1/2 head in 42.26 over the 715 metres. The Enzo Crudeli trained dog had been placed twice from 3 previous starts over the 715 metres a distance that the Great Miata raced over and holds the track record of 41.30 over. Miata also holds the 530 metres of 29.81 and the 642 metres of 36.55 at Cannington.

PARTY HOTSHOT (Dashing Corsair- Kalden Aurora) smashed the race record in the final of the Westchase when he drove past the leader and favourite Fun Boss to win by 2 lengths in 30.18. The talented youngster had clocked a 29.91 early in his career and except for being slowly away from the boxes would have had a better record than his 8 wins from 14 starts for trainer Ben Abercrombie.

Greyhounds to follow:
Race 3 No 4 Noble Spirit. Recorded her first win since coming West in 30.75 for trainer Terry Erenshaw.

Race 6 No 8 Lachlan Zoo. Big effort from wide draw. Pay to keep following.

VANASTASIA (Vee Man Vane- Kalden Anastasia) led from box 1 and although pressured throughout, was able to hold on to win by a nose from the fast finishing Tom Monelli and a nose away in third place Obie’s Girl. The Wayne Beamish trained bitch had won two qualifying trials before drawing wide at her first 3 race starts.

MAGIC ZIPPY (Magic Sprite- Zip Zip Marina) showed speed from box 1 on debut and led through out, winning by a length over Astapor in 23.20. The John Iwanyk trained dog doesn’t turn two years of age until September and looks set for a bright future.
