“Oriental Runner cashes in on box one”

Speedy chaser Oriental Runner handled the rise to 490m tonight, leading throughout from pole position in a handy 27.99. The Enzo Crudeli prepared chaser had been racing well over shorter distances without winning and looked ideally placed to find the front and get his chance tonight. However after winning just one of his first 37 starts he was still sent out at $7.00 with the WA TAB. As expected he fired straight to the front with kennel-mate Winging It surging across from box seven to settle in second position. Turning for home the pair looked set for a close finish but Oriental Runner found enough energy to hang on and win narrowly. He clocked a fair 27.99 over the 490m distance and handed his connections the Ten Eighty Syndicate a second triumph. Finishing third and four lengths away was the former Victorian Go Lyla for Nambeelup trainer Shayne Williams. Enzo Crudeli has enjoyed another bumper year so far producing 111 wins, 133 seconds and 193 thirds.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 2 Number 4 WESTDALE ARIES : Hit the line strongly to run second and will strip fitter second up.

Race 4 Number 6 TORZA : Overcame the awkward draw of box six to rail to victory in a fast 22.64.

“Andrew McLaren prepares first and second in Novice”

Former Victorian Landish Boy was strongly supported from box one to win tonight’s Sign Strategy Novice over 302m and he didn’t let his backers down. The son of Kinloch Brae flew out of the inside trap to pounce on the lead before charging away to win by four lengths in a fast 17.13. Kennel-mate Billy Hook finished strongly out wide to claim second narrowly ahead of Jay’s Double who was prominent throughout.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 2 Number 1 HIT IT FUDGE : Hit the line strongly to run third and looks to be working up to a win.

Race 4 Number 4 WHO BE YOU : Mustered quickly to assume control and despite wobbling wide on straightening scored by two lengths.
