“Freckles Monelli breaks through for first novice win”
Regally bred sprinter Freckles Monelli, unlike some of his siblings and half siblings has failed to set the world on fire. However tonight he did break through for his second victory after 51 career starts. From box five he began swiftly and settled outside leader Black Havoc before winning narrowly over the 300m distance in 17.34. Black Havoc was the runner up and a length away third was Candy Monelli. Freckles Monelli is raced by David Hobby and he has now started 51 times for 2 wins and 22 minor placings. His mother Flake Monelli won 30 of her 52 outings and has since produced the likes of Crumble Monelli (34 wins), Pudding Monelli (18 wins), Custard Monelli (16 wins), Pecorino Monelli (14 wins) and Waffles Monelli (11 wins).
