“Hong Kong Phooey wins first up for Glen Currie”
Handy sprinter Hong Kong Phooey overcame box eight to win tonight’s Sires On Ice Provincial 5 over 400m. The daughter of Kinloch Brae ran a nice second last start behind Nalah Patanga but tonight’s opposition was stronger and winning from the wide draw was never going to be easy. She came with a big surge at the top of the straight to overtake leader Cerulean Poppy before bursting away to win by a length in 22.50. Elite Cracker rallied late to claim second and another length away third was the fading Cerulean Poppy. Hong Kong Phooey is now in the care of Wundowie based trainer Glen Currie who has trained some super chasers in the past like Trapper Wal, Bones McCoy, Fire Fly Toukley, Zipper Zip Zip and Our Adventure.
