HEARTBREAK HONEY (Tommy Shelby-West On Poppy) broke her Maiden status when she worked to the front and held off the challenges to win by 2 lengths over Sparkling Gem in 30.19. The Steve Withers trained youngster turns two years of age in June and was having just her third career start.
HUNTER (Tommy Shelby-Uno Carla) raced to the lead going off the back straight at his first try over the 601 metres. The Corey White trained dog had not won in 19 previous tries at Cannington before he held off Humbug Monelli by a length in 34.91.
FROGS MONELLI (Hooked On Scotch-Flake Monelli) led from box 3 and although challenged on the home corner, kicked away in the straight to win by a length over Garritty in 29.79. The David Hobby trained dog had finished fourth behind Aston Rayner in the Gr 1 Sky Racing Perth Cup at his previous start.
HUDSON (Beast Unleashed-Surprise Fling) held up on the inside of the favourite Just a Foreman going into the first corner and from there was not headed as he scored a 3/4 length victory in 30.11. The Cosi Dagostino trained dog has a very good record over the 520 metres winning 4 times from 6 attempts.
