“Jaffa’s Monelli wins Peel Plate Final”

David Hobby won yet another feature race this evening, causing a mini boil-over in the form of Jaffa’s Monelli. A speedy field was assembled for the 400m feature final and from box eight he was always going to have to make his own luck. As the boxes opened Geordie Lad won the jump and had his nose in front before Jaffa’s Monelli started to zoom out wide. The son of Hooked On Scotch then crossed his rivals at the first turn ahead of Not Atrocious. The other six greyhounds all met with interference and at the top of the straight there were only two winning chances. Jaffa’s Monelli pulled clear to score by three lengths in 22.53 over a gallant Not Atrocious. A distant (eleven lengths) third was Hudson ahead of Geordie Lad in fourth position. Jaffa’s Monelli’s mother Flake Monelli was an elite greyhound herself and has also been an elite producer in the breeding barn.
