“Queen Potato explodes to an effortless maiden win”

The Kellie Buckwell trained Queen Potato resumed from an injury enforced spell tonight and could not have been more impressive. The daughter of Aussie Infrared was unplaced at her first seven starts and fell at her most recent effort at Cannington on October 15. The vet placed her on a 28 day vacation and she returned to racing tonight over 300m at Mandurah. From box two she began moderately but quickly zoomed clear of her rivals before recording a mighty time of 17.24 and winning by six lengths. Kombi Ackee finished strongly late for second and half a length away third was Aussie Collins. Queen Potato’s mother We The People was a top stayer who won a Group 3 Brisbane Gold Cup over 710m in 2022 and also amassed more than $300,000 in earnings.
