“Gold Smirch wins Mandurah Maiden Final for Tony Scott”

Promising young sprinter Gold Smirch overcame box seven to take out tonight’s Get Your Quaddie On 400m Maiden Final. The daughter of Vanderworp won his heat in a smart 22.57 and started second favourite tonight behind All Got Dirt who won his heat in a faster 22.38. Gold Smirch began swiftly and mustered across to the lead at the first turn but 250m out All Got Dirt checked off her heels and both greyhounds lost momentum. Lolly Monelli and Neon Fury challenged at that point but Gold Smirch was able to regroup and maintain a lead as they entered the front straight. She found enough to win by a length in an interference affected time of 23.00 over Neon Fury and Lolly Monelli. Gold Smirch is owned by Leon Birch and trained by Tony Scott and looks to be in for a terrific career.
