“Rusty Rocket sizzles on debut for Jesse Erenshaw”

First starter Rusty Rocket overcame box five to win tonight’s Bring The Family Provincial Maiden over 400m. He won his qually a month ago and clocked a slow 23.52 from box six. The freshen up did him good and after a fast getaway he mustered three lengths clear at the first turn, recording a slick first sectional of 6.29. Toby Keeping was in pursuit but couldn’t reel in the son of Fernando Bale who went on to win by two lengths in a handy 22.57. Toby Keeping finished second for Shayne Williams and two lengths away third was the Chris Halse prepared Aussie Brook. Rusty Rocket’s mother Phosphenes won 13 of 34 in SA and has produced Barbeque Man (19 wins), Ruby’s Rocket (19 wins), Raven Classified (13 wins) and Howard Hook (10 wins).
