Pride And Power relishes drop in class and distance for Ben MacLean
Pride And Power appreciated box eight in tonight’s Get Your Quaddie On Country Novice over 300m. The son of Fernando Bale had been unplaced at his previous six outings over longer distances but had met with early interference at his last couple. This evening he began cleanly from box eight and settled in second position behind $1.28 fixed odds favourite Day Me Guava who flew from the boxes and found an outright lead. As the pair straightened Pride And Power leveled up before soaring clear and winning by two lengths in 17.27. Chord Rhythm flew late to snatch second by a nose over a disappointing Day Me Guava who scored a week earlier in a swift 17.07. Pride And Power is owned by Joseph Scerri and on tonight’s effort alone looks set for a bright future for leading Southern River trainer Ben MacLean.
