“Rosie Browne wins Mandurah Oaks for Michael Johnston”

Paddy Trease (1995), Sharon Monelli (2013), Starlight Yoyo (2018) and Star Book (2020) are some of the big names that have taken out the Mandurah Oaks in years gone by. A terrific field was assembled for the 2025 edition with the lightly raced Next Thing Uno jumping favourite from box two. The Jackie Wilson prepared Graceful Reign flew out of box one to lead but after 100m Next Thing Uno mustered through on the inside to take control. However turning for home Next Thing Uno looked vulnerable and was challenged on the inside by Rosie Browne and on the outside by Graceful Reign. Rosie Brown dashed clear in the shadows of the post and took the $20,000 winner’s cheque by one length over a gallant Graceful Reign. Half a length away third was the eye-catching Fast Byte who pipped the weakening Next Thing Uno. Rosie Browne is raced by the Lowry Lowry Syndicate and trained out of Nambeelup by Michael Johnston. She is from a tremendous litter that also includes Fancy That Fred, Another James, Kentish Lass and Mrs. Cropley.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 1 Number 8 GO GETTEM CROKER : Overcame box eight to reel in the runaway leader and win by two lengths.

Race 2 Number 2 SOLO MAN : Upset the highly promising Action Shot from box two and clocked a smart 22.54.
